  • Passport validity: Your passport must be valid for at least 90 days after your planned departure from Belarus and have at least two blank pages for visas.
  • Forms: There is no paper form for the e-visa; you must complete the online Belarus e-visa application form and upload a scanned page of your passport data page and a recent color photo.
  • Financial proof: There is no explicit mandatory bank statement requirement for the e-visa; you should be prepared to show funds if requested by border control. A practical guideline is to have access to funds to cover your stay (for example around 200–300 EUR per person).
  • Accommodation and return ticket: You must have confirmed accommodation in Belarus for the duration of your stay and a return or onward ticket.
  • Photo spec: Upload a recent color photo for the online application; photo should be 35x45 mm (3.5x4.5 cm) equivalent, white background, full face, no glasses if possible; file format JPG/JPEG; minimum resolution around 600x600 px.
  • Biometrics: E-visa applications do not require biometric data submission as part of the online process.
  • Travel health insurance: Travel medical insurance is not explicitly required to obtain the e-visa, but it is strongly recommended; ensure your policy covers Belarus with a minimum of 10,000 EUR or equivalent for medical expenses.

  • Other purposes: If you need a different purpose (e.g., medical, humanitarian, work, study), these are not typically issued as e-visas and require a traditional embassy visa application with consular review. Contact the Belarusian embassy/consulate for guidance.

How to apply online

  • How to apply online: Visit the official visa page at https://www.mfa.gov.by/en/visa/ and select the e-visa category. Create an online account, complete the application form with personal details, passport data and travel plans.
  • Upload required documents: scanned passport data page, digital photo, hotel reservation or invitation letter, and travel itinerary.
  • Pay the visa fee of 60 USD using a credit or debit card; the portal will show the amount in USD and provide a BYN equivalent based on current rates.
  • Processing time: 3–5 working days. You will receive an electronic visa by email or a downloadable link; print and carry it with your passport.
  • On arrival: Present your passport and printed e-visa at border control; border officers will stamp entry and you must observe the 30-day stay limit.
  • Extensions: If you need to stay longer, apply for an extension with Belarus migration authorities before your visa expiry; extensions are not guaranteed and may require leaving and re-entering.

  • Visa fee: BYN 150–180 (approx. 60 USD) for the e-visa; there is no separate VFS/BLS service fee for the e-visa.

Tips for United Kingdom travelers

  • How far in advance to apply: Begin the online application at least 2–3 weeks before your travel date to account for any issues or document re-submissions.
  • Common rejection reasons for UK applicants: Incomplete or inconsistent passport data; mismatched details between the online application and passport; missing or unclear travel plans (accommodation/bookings); poor photo quality or incorrect photo specs; insufficient funds if requested; invalid passport validity dates.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy application: For the e-visa, you apply directly through the official Belarus e-visa portal; there is no VFS/BLS intermediary for the e-visa. Traditional sticker visas, if needed, go through a Belarusian embassy/consulate.
  • Travel advisories or bilateral notes: Check the UK government’s travel advisory for Belarus before travel and stay updated on any entry conditions or sanctions notes.
  • Extension options inside Belarus: Extensions may be granted by migration authorities before expiry; you must provide reasons and supporting documents; not all requests are guaranteed and you may be advised to leave and re-enter for a new visa if an extension is not granted.
