Cameroon Visa for South Africa Citizens 2026

e-Visa / eTA

South African citizens can apply for a Cameroon e-visa online before travel.

Guide last updated October 21, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond arrival, scanned bio page
  • Digital passport-style photo
  • Confirmed round-trip flight itinerary
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter)
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate (mandatory for entry)
  • Proof of sufficient funds
  • Credit or debit card for online payment

Visa types

  • Tourist e-visa: single entry, typically valid for a stay of up to 30-90 days depending on approval
  • Business e-visa: requires an invitation letter from a Cameroonian company or institution
  • Longer-stay or multiple-entry visas generally require application through a Cameroonian embassy rather than the e-visa portal

How to apply online

  • Apply via Cameroon's official e-visa portal (linked through the Direction Générale de la Sûreté Nationale, e.g. at www.evisa.cm or as directed by the Presidency's e-visa portal)
  • Complete the online form and upload the passport scan, photo, and supporting documents
  • Pay the visa fee online by card
  • Approval is sent by email as an e-visa authorization to present on arrival
  • Present the printed e-visa approval, passport, and yellow fever certificate at Douala or Yaoundé international airport, or an approved land border

Fees & processing time

  • E-visa fee: approximately USD 70-100 depending on visa duration and entries requested
  • Standard processing time: 3-7 working days
  • No guaranteed express option; apply at least 1-2 weeks before travel to allow processing time

Tips for South Africa travelers

  • Get your yellow fever vaccination at least 10 days before travel, as it is mandatory and checked on arrival
  • Apply for the e-visa well ahead of your trip, as the system can experience delays
  • South Africa does not have a resident embassy in Cameroon; the nearest South African mission covering the country is typically in Abuja, Nigeria, or Libreville, Gabon
  • French and English are both official languages, with French more widely spoken outside Anglophone regions
  • Check current security advisories for certain regions of Cameroon before finalizing your itinerary
