Guide last updated September 8, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival
  • No visa application form needed for visa-free entry
  • Return or onward travel ticket may be requested
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or host's address)
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the stay
  • No biometrics required for visa-exempt entry, though facial recognition and fingerprint scanning are standard border procedure for all travelers
  • Travel health insurance recommended, not mandatory for short tourist stays

Visa types

  • Tourist visa-free entry: automatic 90-day entry permit stamped on arrival, single or multiple entries within the period
  • Business visit: covered under the same 90-day visa-free arrangement for short meetings and conferences
  • Golden Visa / long-term residence: a separate application for multi-year residence, unrelated to the visa-free tourist entry
  • Work/employment visa: requires an employer-sponsored entry permit and residence visa arranged by the employer in the UAE before arrival, not available on visa-free terms

Entry conditions

  • Present passport at immigration on arrival at any UAE airport (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, etc.)
  • Entry permit granted for up to 90 days
  • No paid employment permitted while on the visa-free tourist entry
  • In-country renewal available for around AED 600-750 (about USD 165-200) via approved typing centers or GDRFA offices
  • Overstay fines apply at AED 50 per day (about USD 14) after the grace period, and can accumulate quickly if not settled at a GDRFA office before departure

Fees & processing time

  • No visa fee for the visa-free 90-day entry
  • In-country extension (renewal) fee: approximately AED 600-750 (about USD 165-200) for an additional 90 days, processed within 1-3 working days through GDRFA or an authorized typing center
  • No advance processing time required for the visa-free entry itself; stamp issued immediately on arrival
  • Overstay fines: AED 50 per day, payable before departure at the airport or a GDRFA service center

Tips for Singapore travelers

  • Track your 90-day entry period closely, since overstay fines of AED 50/day accumulate quickly
  • Carry proof of onward travel and accommodation, as immigration occasionally requests these even for visa-exempt nationalities
  • Review UAE's conservative local customs and laws before traveling, particularly regarding alcohol and public behavior
  • The UAE dirham (AED) is pegged to the US dollar; major credit cards are widely accepted, so minimal cash is needed
  • Check u.ae for the latest visa and entry permit rules before departure, as terms are periodically updated
