What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from date of entry, with at least one blank page
  • No visa application required for stays up to 90 days
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate mandatory for entry, required from all travelers regardless of visa status
  • Proof of accommodation and return/onward ticket may be requested by immigration
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the stay
  • No biometrics required for visa-exempt entry, though photographs may be taken at the border as standard procedure
  • Comprehensive travel health insurance strongly recommended

Visa types

  • Tourist visa-free entry: automatic 90-day stamp for Singaporean tourists at the border, single entry
  • East Africa Tourist Visa: an alternative multi-entry option covering Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda within 90 days if visiting more than one country, roughly USD 100
  • Business visit: covered under the same visa-free 90-day arrangement for short meetings
  • Work permit: required for employment, applied for in advance through Uganda's Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control, processed before arrival

Entry conditions

  • Present passport and a valid yellow fever certificate at immigration on arrival at Entebbe International Airport or a land border post
  • Immigration issues an entry stamp valid for up to 90 days
  • No paid employment permitted while on visa-free status
  • Extensions of stay are handled at the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control office in Kampala before the 90 days expire
  • Overstaying attracts fines and can complicate future entry to Uganda and the wider East African Community

Fees & processing time

  • No visa fee for the standard 90-day visa-free entry
  • East Africa Tourist Visa (if opted for): approximately USD 100, processed online in 2-5 working days before travel
  • Extension fee at the Kampala immigration office: approximately USD 50-100, processed within a few working days
  • No cost or delay for the standard visa-free stamp, issued immediately at the airport

Tips for Singapore travelers

  • Carry your yellow fever vaccination certificate at all times; entry can be refused without it
  • Keep a photocopy of your passport bio page and entry stamp in case of loss
  • If also visiting Kenya or Rwanda, the East Africa Tourist Visa can save time and cost compared to separate arrangements
  • US dollars (post-2006 series, undamaged notes) are widely accepted for fees and payments; carry small denominations
  • Apply for any extension at least a week before your 90 days expire to avoid administrative delays or fines
