What you need

  • Passport validity: passport must be valid for at least 6 months from date of entry; minimum 1 blank page for entry (even though an online e-visa is used, a valid passport with blank pages is still required for immigration).
  • Specific forms: no separate paper form; complete online application via eservices.immigration.go.tz; upload a scanned color bio-page of your passport and a passport-style photo; for business applicants, an invitation letter may be requested.
  • Financial proof: not required by the e-visa system, but you should have sufficient funds to cover your stay; there is no fixed amount mandated.
  • Accommodation and return ticket: provide itinerary or proof of accommodation and a return/onward ticket if requested; recommended but not always mandatory for the online e-visa process.
  • Photo spec: upload a recent passport-style photo (2x2 inches / 51x51 mm) with a plain white background; accepted formats typically JPEG or PNG and within portal size limits.
  • Biometrics: no pre-travel biometrics appointment; biometric data may be collected on arrival by Tanzania immigration.
  • Travel health insurance: not mandatory, but strongly recommended; yellow fever vaccination certificate may be required if arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever.

  • Business e-visa (official name: Tanzania e-Visa – Business): single-entry, valid up to 90 days from issue, stay up to 90 days; approximate fee USD 50.

Application process

  • How to apply online: go to https://eservices.immigration.go.tz/; create an account; start a new e-visa application; select Tourist or Business; upload required documents (passport bio page, passport photo, travel itinerary; invitation letter for business); pay the visa fee online (USD 50) plus any service/processing fee; submit the application and await approval; you will receive the e-visa approval letter by email/portal; print and carry it on your trip; present it at immigration on arrival.
  • Visa on arrival: Tanzania primarily uses online e-visa; visa-on-arrival is not guaranteed for Singaporean travellers; if available at a port of entry, it is limited and subject to on-site payment; verify with the Tanzanian embassy before travel.
  • Sticker visa: Tanzania generally issues e-visas for most nationalities; traditional sticker visas issued via an embassy or consulate are still possible in certain cases; if pursuing, contact the nearest Tanzanian embassy/consulate for a paper visa, required documents and processing times.

Tips for Singapore travelers

  • Common rejection reasons for Singapore applicants: passport validity less than 6 months; insufficient or inconsistent travel plans; missing required documents; photo not meeting specifications; mismatch between uploaded documents and application data.
