What you need

  • Passport validity: Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from date of entry into Suriname, and have at least 2 blank visa/pages.
  • Specific forms: Online eTA application via the VFSGLOBAL Suriname portal; no DS-160, no VAF1A.
  • Financial proof: Bank statements or specific funds proof are not required to be attached to the eTA application, but you should have sufficient funds to cover your stay; be prepared to show funds if requested by immigration.
  • Accommodation and return ticket: Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter from host) and a return/onward ticket are recommended and may be requested at check-in or on arrival.
  • Photo spec: Passport-style photo 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm), color, white background, head centered, no glasses unless medically required, no shadows.
  • Biometrics: Biometrics are not normally required for the eTA itself; if requested, you will be directed to submit biometrics at a designated VFSGLOBAL collection center or Surinamese embassy.
  • Travel health insurance: Travel health insurance is recommended for all travelers; it is not strictly mandatory for the eTA but advisable in case of illness or accidents during stay.

  • Student eTA: Official name Suriname eTA Student; validity typically aligned with program duration (up to 6–12 months per approval, subject to embassy rules); max stay per visit often 30–90 days depending on consent; approximate fee USD 60 total; approximate SRD 1,380.
  • Work eTA: Official name Suriname eTA Work; validity matches work permit duration (often up to 90 days with potential extension); max stay per visit 30 days (subject to approval); approximate fee USD 75 total; approximate SRD 1,725.

How to apply online

  • How to apply online: Go to https://www.vfsglobal.com/suriname/ and select the eTA application for Singapore citizens.
  • Steps:
  • Create an account or log in, then start a new application for Suriname eTA.
  • Enter personal information, passport details, travel plans and intended stay.
  • Upload required documents: scanned bio-data page of passport, a recent passport photo, travel itinerary or hotel confirmation, and any invitation/sponsor letters if applicable.
  • Pay the fees: ETA application fee (USD 25) and VFS service fee (USD 20) using a credit/debit card or other accepted payment methods.
  • Submit the application and await confirmation by email.
  • Fee (local + USD): ETA USD 25 + Service USD 20 = USD 45 (approx SRD 1,035 depending on exchange rate).
  • Processing time: Standard 3–5 business days; express processing may be available for an additional fee (example USD 15) with 1–2 day turnaround.
