What you need

  • Passport validity: Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from date of entry and have at least one blank page.
  • Specific forms: Online e-visa application form on migration.gov.rw; no DS-forms. If applying for Visa on Arrival, a paper visa form may be provided at the port of entry.
  • Financial proof: Not required as a general rule for online e-visa; if requested by immigration, provide bank statements for last 3 months showing funds to cover stay.
  • Accommodation and return ticket: Proof of accommodation and a return or onward ticket is recommended and may be requested.
  • Photo spec: Recent color passport photo (35x45 mm) with white background; image in JPEG; file size under 2 MB.
  • Biometrics: In the e-visa online application, no in-app biometrics; border authorities may collect biometrics on arrival if required.
  • Travel health insurance: Recommended; not mandatory.
  • Yellow fever: Yellow fever vaccination certificate may be required for travellers arriving from certain countries; check current rules before travel.

  • Work visa: Official name: Work visa; Validity: duration of contract; Entry: Single; Approx fee: not publicly listed; check with the Embassy.

Application process

  • How to apply online: Use the official portal at https://www.migration.gov.rw/.
  • Steps: Create profile and login → choose Tourist e-Visa (or East Africa Tourist Visa) → complete the online application with personal and travel details → upload documents (passport data page, recent photo, travel itinerary, accommodation), optional funds proof and yellow fever certificate if applicable → pay the visa fee (USD 50 for Tourist e-Visa or USD 100 for EA Visa) via credit/debit card → submit → you will receive a reference number and, after processing, an electronic visa by email or portal notification.
  • Processing times: 3–5 working days for e-visa; EA Visa 3–7 working days.
  • How approval arrives: The e-visa document is downloadable from the portal or emailed; print it and carry to border control; border officials may scan the QR code.
  • Visa on arrival: If you need VOA, it is issued on arrival at Kigali International Airport and select land borders; pay USD 50 in cash or as accepted currencies; processing is immediate but expect queues; bring the passport, a completed VOA form, and your travel documents.
  • Sticker visa: For in-person processing, contact the Rwanda Embassy in Singapore; typical steps involve submitting docs, paying fees, possible interview; processing often 5–14 days.

  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy application: For Rwanda, e-visa via migration.gov.rw is the standard route; there is no general VFS/BLS booking for Rwanda visas in Singapore; if you need a sticker visa, contact the Rwanda Embassy in Singapore.
