New Zealand Visa for Singapore Citizens 2026

Singapore citizens traveling to New Zealand must obtain an New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) before departure, pay the NZeTA fee of NZD 9 plus the International Visitor Levy of NZD 35 (total NZD 44; approx USD 30), and the approval is linked to your passport and shown in ImmiAccount; processing is usually instant but may take up to 72 hours.

What you need

  • Passport validity: Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended departure date from New Zealand.
  • Forms: There is no separate visa application form for Singapore citizens. Apply online for the New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) via the official portal.
  • Financial proof: There is no fixed funds amount published for NZeTA. You may be asked at the border to show you have sufficient funds to cover your stay.
  • Accommodation and return ticket: There is no mandatory requirement to have confirmed accommodation or a return ticket, but have details of where you will stay and evidence of onward travel if asked.
  • Photo spec: Digital passport-style photo taken within the last 3 months with a plain white or light background; image should be JPEG or PNG, clearly showing your face, and meet the online application requirements (commonly under 2 MB).
  • Biometrics: Not required as part of the NZeTA application; no separate biometrics appointment is needed.
  • Travel health insurance: Not mandatory, but recommended to have travel medical insurance that covers illness or injury during your stay in New Zealand.

  • Essential Skills Work Visa – Official name: Essential Skills Work Visa. Validity: up to 3 years (subject to job offer). Entry: Multiple. Approx fee: NZD 495; USD ≈ 320.

  • How to apply online: Go to the official portal at https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas and sign in or create an ImmiAccount.
  • Steps: 1) Choose NZeTA, 2) enter traveller details and passport information, 3) upload a photo, 4) pay the NZeTA fee (NZD 9) and the International Visitor Levy (IVL, NZD 35), 5) receive your approval in ImmiAccount (no printout required).
  • Fee and payment: NZeTA NZD 9 online; IVL NZD 35; total NZD 44; approximate USD 30.
  • Processing time: Usually instant to a few hours; allow up to 72 hours for confirmation.
  • How approval arrives: Approval is linked to your passport in ImmiAccount and is not a separate physical document; you should travel with the passport used for the application.

Tips for Singapore travelers

  • How far in advance to apply: Apply at least 24–72 hours before travel; do not leave it to the last minute.
  • Common rejection reasons (Singapore applicants): Mismatched personal details between passport and NZeTA, expired passport, uploading an unclear or non-compliant photo, and attempting to travel with insufficient funds or inconsistent travel plans.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy application: For NZ, you apply online via ImmiAccount; there is no VFS/BLS intermediary for NZeTA.
