  • Financial proof: Not mandatory for visa-free entry; border authorities may ask for proof of sufficient funds. Carry recent bank statements as a precaution.
  • Accommodation and return ticket: Proof of accommodation is not required, but have hotel/address details handy if asked; a return/onward ticket is recommended.
  • Photo spec: If requested, carry a passport-style photo (3.5 x 4.5 cm) with a white background, front view, no glasses, taken within the last 6 months.
  • Biometrics: Biometrics on arrival are generally not required for visa-free entry; border checks may collect biometric data if needed.

Application process

  • For visa-free entry: How to apply online: Not required; entry is at border control on arrival, subject to eligibility and compliance with visa-free conditions.
  • For e-Visa: How to apply online: Use the official portal at https://www.vmp.gov.kz/ (also can be accessed via the government portal https://www.gov.kz/). Steps: 1) Create an account and log in. 2) Choose e-Visa (Tourism). 3) Complete the application form with personal and travel details. 4) Upload a scanned passport page and a passport-style photo. 5) Pay the visa fee in USD or KZT. 6) Submit the application and wait for approval.
  • Processing time: Standard 3–4 working days; Express 1–2 working days with an additional fee. How approval arrives: The portal will show the decision and you can download/print the e-Visa once approved; bring a printed copy to travel if required by border control.

Fees & processing time

  • Visa-free entry: Fee 0; Local currency not charged; Processing time is effectively border-control dependent (no pre-processing).
  • e-Visa: Visa fee 50 USD (approx 20,000–22,000 KZT); Local currency equivalent accepted via portal. Processing time: Standard 3–4 working days; Express 1–2 working days. Total cost with express option: 50 USD + express supplement (about 20 USD).
  • VFS/BLS service fee: Not applicable for visa-free entry; for e-visa, processing is handled via the official portal, not through VFS/BLS.

Tips for Singapore travelers

  • Plan ahead: If relying on e-Visa, apply at least 3–4 days before travel; allow extra time during peak periods or holidays.
  • Common rejection reasons (Singapore applicants): Incorrect passport validity (less than 6 months), inconsistent travel dates or purpose, uploaded documents not matching passport details, poor quality photos, or insufficient funds when requested by border control.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy: For visa-free entry, no VFS/BLS is required; visa applications (if choosing e-Visa) are handled online via the official Kazakhstan portal. No separate embassy appointment is needed for visa-free entry.
  • Travel advisories: Check Singapore MFA travel advisories and Kazakhstan MFA/Ministry of Foreign Affairs updates before travel; ensure passport validity and entry eligibility.
  • Extension options inside Kazakhstan: Extensions for visa-free stays are generally not guaranteed; if more time is required, you should exit and re-enter or pursue an official visa/e-Visa before travel to extend your stay.
