What you need

  • Passport validity: Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Iraq, and have at least 2 blank visa pages.
  • Specific forms: There is no separate paper form for the e-visa; apply online at https://evisa.gov.iq/ and upload a clear color scan of the passport bio page and a recent passport-style photo.
  • Financial proof: The online e-visa application does not require submission of bank statements; if border authorities request proof of funds, carry recent bank statements showing funds for your stay.
  • Accommodation and return ticket: Provide hotel or accommodation details for your stay; a return or onward ticket may be requested at the border or during the application.
  • Photo spec: Passport photo must be 2x2 inches (51x51 mm), color, white background, full face forward, no glasses; no hats or head coverings unless for religious reasons and that do not obscure the face.
  • Biometrics: Not required at the e-visa submission; visa data is read electronically against your passport.
  • Travel health insurance: Not mandatory for visa issuance, but having travel insurance is recommended.
  • Important notes: Ensure the name, passport number, date of birth, and nationality on the application exactly match your passport.

  • Student visa: Not available via the online e-visa portal; requires embassy/consulate processing; contact the Iraqi Embassy in Singapore for options.
  • Work visa: Not available via the online e-visa portal; requires embassy/consulate processing; contact the Iraqi authorities or MOFA for guidance.

Application process

  • How to apply online: Go to https://evisa.gov.iq/ to create an account or log in, select the visa type (Tourist or Business) and complete the form with exact details from your passport.
  • Required documents: Upload passport bio page scan and a recent passport-style photo; you may also add travel itinerary or hotel details if requested.
  • Payment: Pay the visa fee with a valid international card (USD); the portal usually shows the local currency equivalent at payment time depending on your card and rate.
  • Processing and approval: Submit the application and monitor status in the portal; approval is typically sent by email and/or displayed in your account.
  • Upon approval: Print the e-visa and carry it to the border; border authorities will verify it against your passport at entry.
  • If denied: Review the reason stated in the decision and you may reapply once you address the cited issues.

Tips for Singapore travelers

  • When to apply: Apply at least 7–14 days before travel; allow extra time during holidays or peak travel periods.
  • Common rejection reasons for Singapore applicants: Passport validity less than 6 months, mismatched names or personal data between passport and application, incomplete or blurry documents, lack of clear accommodation details, or inconsistencies in travel intent.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy application: For the e-visa, apply directly online at evisa.gov.iq; if you need a stamp via a consulate, contact the Iraqi Embassy in Singapore; fees and processes differ from online e-visa.
