Singapore citizens can enter Greece visa-free for up to 90 days within a 180-day period, with no visa required for short stays.

What you need

  • Passport validity: Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned date of departure from the Schengen area; it must have been issued within the last 10 years and have at least 2 blank pages for stamps.
  • Specific forms: For visa-free entry, no Greece visa application form is required. If you later pursue a long-term stay (studies/work), you will apply via the Greek embassy with the National Visa form published on the MFA site.
  • Financial proof: There is no published fixed monetary threshold for visa-free entry; border officers may request evidence of sufficient funds to cover your stay. Acceptable documents include recent bank statements, credit card limits, or sponsorship letters.
  • Accommodation and return ticket: Be ready to show proof of accommodation (hotel booking or host invitation) and a return or onward ticket if asked.
  • Photo spec: For visa-free entry, you do not submit a visa photo; if applying for a long-term national visa in the future, you will need two recent passport photos (35x45 mm) with a white background.
  • Biometrics: Short-stay visa-free entry does not require biometrics at the border; long-term visa applications may require biometrics at the embassy/consulate.
  • Travel health insurance: Not mandatory for visa-free travel, but carrying travel medical insurance is strongly recommended; the policy should ideally cover medical expenses up to at least 30,000 EUR for border control considerations.

  • Student (long-term) – Official name: National visa for studies (Type D). Validity: duration of study program; initial visa often issued for up to 12 months and renewable. Max stay: as per permit. Single/multiple entry: Multiple entries permitted with visa approval. Approx fee: Varies; check with Greek embassy.
  • Work (long-term) – Official name: National visa for employment (Type D). Validity: duration of employment contract; initial visa often up to 12 months and renewable. Max stay: as per permit. Single/multiple entry: Multiple entries permitted. Approx fee: Varies; check with Greek embassy.

Application process

  • How to apply online: Not available for Greece for Singapore passport holders for short-stay visits; there is no Greece e-Visa yet for Singapore; for long-term stays use the National Visa route via the Greek Embassy in Singapore.
  • Visa on arrival: Not available for Greece for Singapore citizens.
  • Sticker visa (national visa) – How to apply: 1) Book an appointment with the Greek Embassy in Singapore or the designated consular channel. 2) Prepare documents listed below and bring originals plus copies. 3) Submit in person and pay the fee. 4) Attend any required interview. 5) Wait for a decision; processing times are longer for long-term visas. 6) If approved, collect your passport with the visa.

  • VFS/BLS service fee: Not applicable for Greece when applying directly through the Greek Embassy in Singapore; if a service center is used, any service fee will be stated at booking.
  • Total cost estimate: For long-term visas, include the national visa fee plus possible consular fees and any service fees; check MFA site for current amounts.
  • Standard processing time: National visa processing generally takes several weeks to a few months (commonly 4–12 weeks); expedited processing where available may incur additional fees.

Tips for Singapore travelers

  • Plan in advance: For short visa-free trips, you can travel as soon as travel plans are confirmed; for long-term stays, start the visa process at least 2–3 months before your intended travel date.
  • Common rejection reasons for Singapore applicants: Incomplete or inconsistent documents; unclear travel purpose; insufficient or unverifiable funds; lack of accommodation or return plans; failing to demonstrate intent to depart Greece after the stay.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy: Greece currently handles consular visa processing through its Embassy/Consulate in Singapore; there is no permanent official VFS/BLS outsourcing at the moment for Greece; confirm the appointment process on the MFA site.
  • Travel advisories or bilateral notes: Always check the official MFA Greece pages for the latest entry rules, health and safety requirements, and any visa policy changes; current guidance can be found at https://www.mfa.gr/
  • Extension options inside Greece: Short-stay (90 days in 180) extensions are generally not permitted; to stay longer, you must apply for a long-term national visa or residence permit before your current period ends; after arrival, apply for a residence permit if eligible.
