Singaporean citizens can visit France for up to 90 days within a 180-day period without a visa; for longer stays or other purposes, apply via the France-Visas portal (france-visas.gouv.fr) and consult the French Embassy in Singapore.

What you need

  • Passport validity: Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen area, must have been issued within the last 10 years, and have at least 2 blank pages for stamps.
  • Specific forms: No France visa application form is required for short stays. If you later apply for a long-stay visa (eg. student, work, or Talent Passport), use the France-Visas portal and follow the consulate’s instructions; biometrics will be required for long-stay applications.
  • Financial proof: Visa-free entry does not require a separate proof of funds at entry, but border officers may ask for evidence of sufficient funds to cover your stay; carry bank statements or credit-card statements if available.
  • Accommodation and return ticket: Evidence of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter with address in France) may be requested; a return or onward ticket is recommended.
  • Photo specifications: One recent passport photo (35x45 mm, color) with a plain light background; head centered; no tinted lenses or headwear for religious reasons unless applicable; photo should meet standard French visa specs.
  • Biometrics: Biometrics are not collected for visa-free entries; if you apply for a long-stay visa later, you will typically provide biometrics at the consulate or visa application center.
  • Travel health insurance: Not required for visa-free entry, but it is strongly recommended to have travel medical insurance; for future long-stay visa applications, a policy with minimum 30,000 EUR coverage is often required.

  • Long-stay student visa (visa de long séjour étudiant): official name Visa de long séjour étudiant; validity tied to the study period (initial issuance often 4–12 months, renewable); max stay extends beyond 3 months; entry usually multiple; approximate fee 99 EUR (about SGD 160–170).
  • Long-stay worker visa (visa de long séjour salarié) / Passeport Talent: official names Visa de long séjour salarié or Passeport Talent; validity up to 4 years (initial) with renewal; multiple entries; approximate fee 99 EUR.
  • Long-stay visitor visa (visa de long séjour visiteur): official name Visa de long séjour visiteur; validity 12 months; multiple entries; approximate fee 99 EUR.

Entry conditions

  • Days allowed: Up to 90 days in any 180-day period for visa-free travel.
  • Work restrictions: Short-stay visits do not permit paid employment in France; for work or study beyond 90 days, you must obtain an appropriate long-stay visa or residence permit before or after arrival as applicable.
  • What to show on arrival: A valid passport; you may be asked to show evidence of accommodation, onward/return ticket, and sufficient funds to cover your stay.
  • Extension options: Short-stay extensions are generally not allowed; if you need to stay longer, apply for a long-stay visa via the France-Visas portal before your 90 days expire.
  • ETIAS: ETIAS is not yet in force as of now; when implemented, visa-exempt travellers may need pre-travel authorization; always verify current rules on france-visas.gouv.fr and diplomatie.gouv.fr.

  • Visa-free entry for Singapore citizens: no visa fee and no formal processing time; entry decisions are at the border.
  • If you later apply for a long-stay visa (study, work, or talent) the fee is 99 EUR (approx SGD 160–170; USD ~110–120). Other long-stay subtypes may share the same base fee.
  • VFS/BLS service fees: processing centers often apply a separate service fee; check the exact amount on the France-Visas site or the local visa application center for Singapore; amounts vary by center.
  • Standard processing times: for long-stay visas, typically 15–60 days after your visa appointment; can be longer during peak periods or for certain categories; applicants are advised to apply 2–3 months before departure.
  • Express/priority options: Some centers offer expedited processing at additional cost depending on the category and local consulate; confirm availability and fees with the consulate.
