Singaporean citizens must obtain a Chad e-visa before travel; apply online at the official Chad portal (ambassade-tchad.org); Tourist visa fee around USD 60, processing 3–5 working days; single entry; stay up to 30 days.

What you need

  • Passport validity: passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond planned entry date and have a minimum of 2 blank visa pages.
  • Specific forms: online Chad e-visa application form via the official portal; no DS-160 or other country-specific forms required.
  • Financial proof: bank statements for the last 3 months showing sufficient funds; guideline: at least USD 1,000 equivalent for the stay or as required by the portal.
  • Accommodation and return ticket: confirmed hotel reservation or invitation letter and a return or onward flight ticket.
  • Photo spec: one recent passport photo 35 x 45 mm (3.5 x 4.5 cm), white background, JPEG, file size under 500 KB, taken within the last 6 months.
  • Biometrics: biometric data collection is not required at the online stage; may be collected at entry or at the embassy if requested.
  • Travel health insurance: travel medical insurance is recommended but not mandatory.

Visa types

  • Tourist visa (Visa de Tourisme): validity 90 days from issue; stay up to 30 days per visit; single entry; approximate fee USD 60; approximate local currency 38,000 XAF.
  • Business visa (Visa d'Affaires): validity 90 days from issue; stay up to 30 days per visit; single entry; approximate fee USD 100; approximate local currency 63,500 XAF.
  • Transit visa (Visa de Transit Aéroportuaire): validity 7 days; stay up to 7 days; single entry; approximate fee USD 25; approximate local currency 15,875 XAF.
  • Student visa (Visa d'Études) and Work visa (Visa de Travail): not issued via the online e-visa portal; require direct embassy processing; contact the Chad embassy for details.

How to apply online

  • How to apply online: visit the official Chad visa portal via ambassade-tchad.org; create an account and log in.
  • Fill the application with personal details, travel plans and purpose of visit; upload documents (passport bio page scan, passport photo, flight itinerary, hotel reservation or invitation letter).
  • Pay the online visa fee with a card; select currency shown on the portal (USD or XAF).
  • Submit the application and note the reference number; processing time is typically 3–5 working days.
  • You will receive the approved e-visa by email; print a copy and carry it with your passport.
  • On arrival in Chad, present the e-visa printout with your passport; biometrics may be requested at entry if required.

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fees: Tourist USD 60 (≈ 38,000 XAF); Business USD 100 (≈ 63,500 XAF); Transit USD 25 (≈ 15,875 XAF).
  • Local currency: XAF; you may pay in USD or XAF as shown on the portal; card payments are typical.
  • VFS/BLS service fee: not applicable for online e-visa applications.
  • Total cost estimate: visa fee plus any card processing charges; exclude accommodation and travel costs.
  • Standard processing time: 3–5 working days.
  • Express/priority processing: often available for an additional fee; check the portal for exact charges and maximum turnaround time.

Tips for Singapore travelers

  • Apply at least 7–14 days before travel to allow for processing and any delays.
  • Common rejection reasons for Singapore applicants: incomplete documents, passport validity less than required, mismatched travel details, poor quality or incorrect photo, insufficient funds, or inconsistencies in the stated purpose of visit.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy application: for the Chad e-visa, apply directly through the official portal; no VFS BLS submission required; contact the Chad embassy in Singapore if you need help or urgent processing.
  • Travel advisories: check the Singapore MFA travel advisory for Chad before departure; follow local safety guidance and avoid high-risk areas.
