Afghanistan Visa for Singapore Citizens 2026

Singapore citizens must obtain an Afghanistan visa online (e-Visa) before travel via evisa.mfa.gov.af; tourist visas start around USD 50 with typical processing of 3–5 working days.

What you need

  • Passport validity: Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from date of entry and have at least 1 blank page.
  • Specific forms: Use the official eVisa online application at https://evisa.mfa.gov.af/; there is no separate DS-160 or VAF1A for Afghanistan; you will upload scans of your passport biodata page and a recent color passport photo; you may also need to provide travel itinerary, hotel details and return flight information.
  • Financial proof: Not required for all categories; if requested, provide bank statements for the last 3 months showing funds of at least USD 1,000 per applicant.
  • Accommodation and return ticket: Provide hotel confirmation for the entire stay or an invitation letter from a host; also provide a return/onward flight ticket.
  • Photo spec: Recent color passport-style photo (35x45 mm) with white background; head centered; no glasses with tinted lenses; photo should be in JPG/PNG; file size up to 300 KB.
  • Biometrics: Biometrics are not required as part of the online eVisa application; if the embassy requests biometrics, you will be notified.
  • Travel health insurance: Not mandatory but recommended.

  • eVisa - Tourist: Official name: eVisa - Tourist; Validity: 3 months from issue; Max stay: 30 days; Entry: Single; Approx fee: USD 50 (AFN equivalent around 4,000).
  • eVisa - Business: Official name: eVisa - Business; Validity: 3 months from issue; Max stay: 30 days; Entry: Single; Approx fee: USD 100–150 (AFN equivalent around 8,000–12,000).
  • eVisa - Student: Official name: eVisa - Student; Validity: typically 6–12 months or duration of enrolment; Max stay: up to 90 days per entry (multiple-entry determinations vary); Entry: Single (or as issued); Approx fee: USD 150–200 (AFN around 12,000–16,000).
  • eVisa - Work: Official name: eVisa - Work; Validity: 1 year; Max stay: 90 days per entry; Entry: Single; Approx fee: USD 200–250 (AFN around 16,000–20,000).
  • Sticker visa (Embassy processing): Official name: Sticker visa (Embassy processing); Validity: 3–6 months; Max stay: 30 days; Entry: Single; Approx fee: USD 80–180 (AFN around 6,400–14,400).

Application process

  • How to apply online (e-Visa): portal URL: https://evisa.mfa.gov.af/; Steps: 1) create an account and log in; 2) fill the online application with personal details and travel plans; 3) upload required documents (passport scan, photo, itinerary; business requires invitation letter; student/work require relevant documents); 4) pay the visa fee online with a card (USD/AFN as shown on the portal); 5) submit and wait for status (3–5 working days); 6) if approved, print the e-Visa confirmation and carry it with your passport to the border; entry will be granted on presentation of the e-Visa.
  • Visa on arrival: Not generally available for Singapore citizens; an e-Visa pre-approval is required in advance. If a border officer offers a visa on arrival, it is exceptional and you should not rely on it; ensure you have an approved e-Visa before travel.
  • Sticker visa (Embassy processing): How to apply: contact or visit the Afghan Embassy/Consulate that handles Singapore applicants (or nearest mission) to request a sticker visa; Documents: passport copy, two recent photos, completed visa application form, invitation letter (for business/work), travel plans, financial evidence; Fees: paid at the embassy or via designated payment method; Timelines: standard 7–15 working days; Express options may be available for additional fees; Interview: may be required.

  • e-Visa - Student: Fee USD 150–200; AFN approx 12,000–16,000; processing 3–7 working days; Express option USD 30–50.
  • e-Visa - Work: Fee USD 200–250; AFN approx 16,000–20,000; processing 3–7 working days; Express option USD 35–60.
  • Sticker visa (Embassy processing): Fee USD 80–180; AFN approx 6,400–14,400; processing 7–15 working days; Express option USD 40–60; some centers may charge additional service fees if using an intermediary.
  • Total cost estimate: For an online e-Visa tourist, base cost around USD 50 with possible express surcharge bringing total to about USD 70; Sticker visa routes can range from USD 120 to 260 depending on category and express service.
  • Standard processing time: 3–5 working days for most e-Visas; 7–15 working days for embassy/sticker visas; express options may shorten times at additional cost.

Tips for Singapore travelers

  • Plan well in advance: apply at least 2–4 weeks before travel; peak periods may take longer.
  • Common rejection reasons for Singapore applicants: incomplete application or documents; passport validity under 6 months or insufficient blank pages; mismatch between travel plans and visa category; lack of invitation letter for business/work; insufficient funds or unclear financial proof; security or background concerns flagged by screening.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy: For Afghanistan, the official e-Visa path is online via evisa.mfa.gov.af; sticker visas require embassy/consulate processing and possibly an appointment; check the official Afghan MFA site for current mission details; there is no general VFS/BLS hub universally listed for Afghanistan in Singapore.
  • Travel advisories: Afghanistan remains a high-risk security environment; consult Singapore's government travel advisories (MFA and MOM) and register your trip if offered; maintain updated contact information with your embassy and carry emergency contacts.
  • Extension options inside Afghanistan: Visa extensions may be possible at Afghan immigration authorities if approved; extensions are not guaranteed and often require leaving the country or applying through MOIA/MoFA before expiry; plan extensions only if your travel plans anticipate staying longer.
