Venezuela Visa for Kenya Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Kenyan citizens need a Tourist visa (Visa de Turista) for Venezuela, obtained through the Venezuelan consulate — fee around USD 30, processing 5-10 working days.

Guide last updated September 26, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond arrival date, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Completed Venezuelan visa application form
  • Two passport-size photos (3.5cm x 4.5cm, white background)
  • Proof of sufficient funds (bank statement, minimum USD 1,000 or equivalent)
  • Confirmed round-trip flight itinerary
  • Hotel booking or letter of invitation from a Venezuelan resident
  • Travel/health insurance covering the full stay is strongly recommended
  • Biometrics (fingerprints and photo) taken in person at the consulate

Visa types

  • Tourist visa (Visa de Turista): single entry, valid 90 days from issue, max stay 90 days, fee approx. USD 30
  • Business visa (Visa de Negocios): single or multiple entry, valid up to 1 year, max stay 90 days per visit, fee approx. USD 50, requires invitation letter from a Venezuelan company
  • Transit visa: valid for onward travel, max stay 72 hours, fee approx. USD 20

How to apply

  • Kenya has no resident Venezuelan embassy that regularly issues visas; applicants typically apply through the Venezuelan embassy in South Africa or a designated honorary consul, or via the nearest Venezuelan mission in the region.
  • Book an appointment with the Venezuelan embassy/consulate
  • Submit the application form, photos, passport, and supporting documents in person
  • Pay the visa fee in cash (USD) or by bank transfer, as instructed by the consulate
  • Attend a short interview if requested
  • Standard processing takes 5-10 working days; no formal express service is offered
  • The visa is affixed as a sticker in the passport upon approval

Fees & processing time

  • Tourist visa fee: approx. USD 30 (paid directly to the consulate, no separate service fee since there is no VFS/BLS center for Venezuela in Kenya)
  • Business visa fee: approx. USD 50
  • Total cost estimate including courier/travel to the consulate: USD 50-100
  • Standard processing: 5-10 working days
  • No official express or priority processing option is available

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Apply at least 3-4 weeks in advance given the limited consular presence in the region
  • Common rejection reasons: insufficient proof of funds, no return ticket, unclear purpose of visit
  • Since there is no VFS/BLS center, all applications must go directly through the embassy — confirm current jurisdiction before applying, as Kenyan applicants are sometimes referred to Pretoria or Addis Ababa
  • Check the current travel advisory for Venezuela before booking, as economic and security conditions can affect entry requirements
  • Extensions of stay (Prorroga) can be requested at SAIME offices inside Venezuela before the visa expires
