Ukraine Visa for Kenya Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Kenyan citizens need a visa to enter Ukraine, applied for at the Ukrainian Embassy accredited to Kenya (or the nearest regional mission), and should closely monitor the current conflict-related travel advisories, since much of the country remains under active travel restrictions.

Guide last updated September 26, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from Ukraine, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Completed Ukrainian visa application form
  • One recent passport-size photo, 35mm x 45mm, white background
  • Confirmed round-trip flight or travel itinerary (noting that most commercial flights into Ukraine remain suspended due to the ongoing conflict; overland entry via Poland or another neighboring country is the common route)
  • Proof of accommodation and a formal invitation letter, especially important given current entry restrictions
  • Bank statements showing sufficient funds
  • Mandatory travel medical insurance valid in Ukraine, including coverage for evacuation, given the current security situation
  • Biometric fingerprinting is typically captured at the visa application center or embassy

Visa types

  • Short-Stay (Type C) Visa - single or multiple entry, valid up to 90 days within a 180-day period, for tourism, business, or family visits
  • Long-Stay (Type D) Visa - for work, study, or long-term residence purposes, requires additional supporting documents such as a work permit or university admission letter
  • Humanitarian/NGO entry permits - relevant for aid workers, arranged through Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs given the current context

How to apply

  • Since Ukraine has no embassy in Kenya, apply through the nearest accredited Ukrainian mission (commonly in Egypt or another regional hub) or via Ukraine's e-consulate portal where available
  • Submit your application, passport, photo, and supporting documents at the embassy or via post/courier if permitted
  • Attend an in-person appointment for biometrics if required by that mission
  • Pay the visa fee, typically by bank transfer or in cash at the embassy
  • Given the security situation, closely coordinate your entry route and timing with the embassy, since land border crossing points and available transport can change

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: approximately USD 65-100 depending on visa category and number of entries
  • No VFS center processes Ukrainian visas for Kenya; all applications go directly through the embassy
  • Total cost estimate including travel to the processing embassy: USD 150-400
  • Standard processing time: 5-15 working days depending on the mission and current caseload
  • Expedited processing is rarely available under current conditions; build in extra buffer time

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Check Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and your own government's travel advisories before finalizing any trip, given the active conflict in parts of the country
  • Since Ukraine has no mission in Nairobi, plan for extra lead time to reach the nearest processing embassy
  • Purchase comprehensive travel insurance that explicitly covers conflict-zone medical evacuation
  • Keep your host or inviting organization's contact details accessible, as border and checkpoint officials may verify your purpose of travel
  • Register your presence with your home country's foreign affairs ministry or nearest embassy once in Ukraine, given the fluid security environment
