Tuvalu Visa for Kenya Citizens 2026

Visa on Arrival

Kenyan citizens can obtain a visitor permit on arrival at Funafuti for stays of up to 30 days by presenting a valid passport, onward ticket, and proof of funds — no advance visa application is required.

Guide last updated September 26, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date
  • Confirmed onward or return flight ticket, since Tuvalu has extremely limited flight frequency (typically only a few flights per week from Fiji)
  • Proof of accommodation in Tuvalu
  • Evidence of sufficient funds to support your stay
  • A completed arrival/immigration card, provided on the flight or at the airport
  • No advance photos or biometric enrolment are needed; standard immigration processing applies on arrival
  • Travel health insurance is strongly recommended given Tuvalu's very limited medical facilities

Visa types

  • Visitor's Permit (on arrival) - issued for up to 30 days, covers tourism and short business visits, extendable in-country
  • Business Permit - for longer commercial visits, requires supporting documentation from the sponsoring organization, arranged with the Immigration Office
  • There is no separate transit visa category; travelers passing through typically remain airside given limited flight schedules

Visa on arrival

  • On landing at Funafuti International Airport, proceed to the immigration counter with your passport, return ticket, and proof of accommodation and funds
  • The immigration officer issues a visitor permit stamp valid for up to 30 days
  • Fees are payable in Australian dollars (Tuvalu's currency alongside its own coins), typically in cash
  • Queues are minimal given Tuvalu's very low visitor volume, so processing usually takes only a few minutes
  • Keep your stamped permit and boarding pass copies, as accommodation providers may ask to see them

Fees & processing time

  • Visitor permit fee on arrival: minimal, generally under AUD 20 or sometimes waived entirely for short tourist stays
  • No VFS or embassy processing fees apply, since this is a pure visa-on-arrival system
  • Total cost estimate: negligible beyond standard airport arrival taxes
  • Processing time on arrival: typically well under an hour given low passenger volumes
  • No express service exists or is needed given the simplicity of the process

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Confirm your Fiji-Tuvalu flight booking well in advance, as Fiji Airways operates only a limited weekly schedule to Funafuti
  • Carry small denominations of Australian dollars in cash, since card payment options are very limited in Tuvalu
  • Arrange accommodation before arrival, since Funafuti has only a handful of guesthouses and hotels
  • If you need to extend beyond 30 days, visit the Immigration Office in Funafuti in person before your permit expires
  • There is no Tuvaluan embassy in Kenya, so direct any pre-travel queries to gov.tv or Tuvalu's mission at the United Nations
