Turkey Visa for Kenya Citizens 2026

Kenyan citizens are not eligible for Turkey's e-Visa and must obtain a sticker visa in advance through VFS Global or the Turkish Embassy in Nairobi — a short-stay Schengen-style tourist visa costs about EUR 60 (plus a VFS service fee) and takes roughly 10-15 working days.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Completed and signed Turkish visa application form, printed from the e-consulate portal
  • Two recent biometric passport photos, 50mm x 60mm, white background
  • Confirmed round-trip flight booking
  • Hotel reservations for the full duration of the trip
  • Bank statements for the last 3-6 months and an employment letter or business registration
  • Biometric fingerprints and a photo are captured in person at the VFS Global center in Nairobi
  • Travel health insurance covering at least EUR 30,000 of medical costs, valid across Turkey

Visa types

  • Tourist Visa - single or multiple entry, valid up to 90 days within a 180-day period, fee around EUR 60
  • Business Visa - similar validity to the tourist visa, requires an invitation letter from a Turkish company, fee around EUR 60
  • Student Visa - required for study exceeding 90 days, applied for through the Turkish Embassy with a university acceptance letter
  • Work Visa - requires an approved work permit from the Turkish Ministry of Labour before the visa application

How to apply

  • Submit your application through VFS Global Nairobi, which processes visa applications on behalf of the Turkish Embassy
  • Book an appointment online, complete the e-consulate application form, and gather all supporting documents
  • Attend the appointment in person for biometric capture and document submission
  • Pay the visa fee plus the VFS service charge at the center
  • Processing generally takes 10-15 working days; the passport with the visa sticker is either collected in person or couriered back

Fees & processing time

  • Turkish visa fee: approximately EUR 60 (paid in KES equivalent at the prevailing rate)
  • VFS Global service fee: approximately USD 25-35 in addition to the visa fee
  • Total cost estimate: roughly USD 100-130 including service charges
  • Standard processing time: 10-15 working days from a complete application
  • A premium/priority service is offered by VFS for an extra fee, cutting processing to around 5-7 working days

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Apply at least 4-6 weeks before travel to allow for the standard processing window plus any request for additional documents
  • Common rejection reasons include weak proof of ties to Kenya (no employment letter, no property/family evidence) and insufficient funds
  • Book your VFS appointment early, as slots in Nairobi fill up quickly during peak travel seasons
  • Ensure your travel insurance certificate explicitly states coverage valid in Turkey and meets the EUR 30,000 minimum
  • Overstay or minor extensions inside Turkey are handled by the local Provincial Directorate of Migration Management; it is far simpler to apply for the correct visa duration up front
