Guide last updated September 26, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid at least 6 months from the date of entry
  • Completed online e-Visa application at evisa.go.th with a scanned passport bio-page
  • Digital passport photo uploaded during application, white background, taken within 6 months
  • Confirmed round-trip flight booking
  • Proof of accommodation for the full stay
  • Bank statement showing at least THB 20,000 for an individual or THB 40,000 for a family
  • No biometrics required for the e-Visa; travel/medical insurance recommended though not always mandatory for tourist entry

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa (Single Entry) — valid for a stay of up to 60 days, extendable once at an immigration office in Thailand for an additional 30 days
  • Non-Immigrant e-Visa (Business/Work) — single or multiple entry, requires an invitation or work permit documentation from a Thai employer or sponsor
  • Transit e-Visa — for travelers passing through Thailand to a third destination, shorter validity

How to apply online

  • Kenyan applicants apply directly through the official Thailand e-Visa portal, evisa.go.th, which handles applications for countries without a nearby Thai embassy processing centre. Create an account, fill in the online application with personal and travel details, upload the required documents, and pay the fee online by card. Once approved, the e-Visa is emailed as a PDF, which should be printed and presented at immigration alongside the passport on arrival.

Fees & processing time

  • E-Visa fee: THB 2,000 (approx. USD 55) for the standard tourist single-entry e-Visa
  • No separate VFS/service fee when applying directly through the official evisa.go.th portal
  • Standard processing time: 3-7 working days from submission
  • No official express service; applicants should apply at least 10-15 days ahead of travel to allow for any additional document requests

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Apply at least 2 weeks before travel, since processing times can vary and additional document checks sometimes add delay
  • Common rejection reasons include an unclear photo, insufficient bank balance evidence, or a mismatched itinerary
  • Only use the official evisa.go.th website; unofficial agents may charge significantly more for the same service
  • Extensions of stay (an extra 30 days) can be arranged at any Immigration Bureau office in Thailand for a fee of THB 1,900
  • Carry printed proof of the e-Visa and accommodation bookings, as immigration officers may ask to see them on arrival
