Taiwan Visa for Kenya Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Kenyan citizens need a visitor visa to travel to Taiwan, applied for through the nearest Taiwan representative office since Taiwan has no mission in Kenya; the fee is approximately USD 50-60, with standard processing taking 5-7 working days.

What you need

  • Passport valid at least 6 months from the date of intended entry
  • Completed visitor visa application form
  • One recent passport-size photo, white background
  • Confirmed round-trip flight itinerary
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or host's residence certificate)
  • Bank statement showing sufficient funds for the trip
  • Employment letter or business registration documents
  • Biometrics (fingerprints) may be required at the visa interview; travel/medical insurance recommended

Visa types

  • Visitor Visa — single or multiple entry, valid stay of 30-90 days depending on purpose and approval
  • Business Visa — for trade, meetings, and conferences, requires an inviting company's letter
  • Student/Resident Visa — for study or long-term stay, requires an acceptance letter from a Taiwanese institution, applied for separately

How to apply

  • As Taiwan does not maintain a representative office in Kenya, applicants generally submit their visa application to the nearest Taiwan Overseas Mission with jurisdiction over Kenya, or via a regional visa centre. The application requires an in-person or mailed submission with all supporting documents; some business or frequent travelers may be eligible for Taiwan's online pre-screening where offered. Once approved, officers issue a visa sticker or authorization notice.

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: approximately USD 50-60 for a single-entry visitor visa; multiple-entry visas cost more
  • No dedicated VFS service fee, as Taiwan does not currently outsource Kenyan visa processing to VFS/BLS
  • Standard processing time: 5-7 working days from the regional mission
  • Express processing (2-3 working days) may be available for an additional fee at some missions

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Apply well in advance, at least 3-4 weeks, to account for the extra time needed to reach the responsible regional mission
  • Common rejection reasons include unclear purpose of visit, weak financial proof, or an incomplete itinerary
  • Business travelers should carry a formal invitation letter from the Taiwanese host company, which speeds up processing
  • Confirm current visa-exemption rules before applying, as Taiwan periodically updates its visa-free and e-visa eligibility lists
  • Extensions of stay inside Taiwan are handled by the National Immigration Agency and require a valid reason, such as medical treatment
