Solomon Islands Visa for Kenya Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Kenyan citizens must obtain a visa before traveling to the Solomon Islands, applying through the nearest Solomon Islands diplomatic mission (commonly routed via Australia, Fiji, or Papua New Guinea) or via an approved visa facilitation service, since there is no consulate in Kenya.

Guide last updated September 25, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended departure from the Solomon Islands
  • Completed visa application form for the Solomon Islands
  • Confirmed round-trip flight itinerary
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter from a host)
  • Financial proof: bank statement showing sufficient funds for the stay
  • Two passport photos, 35mm x 45mm, white background
  • Biometrics: fingerprints and photo captured at the diplomatic mission or on arrival at Honiara International Airport, depending on the mission's process
  • Travel health insurance: recommended, and a yellow fever certificate may be requested given travel from Kenya

Visa types

  • Visitor's Visa — single entry, tourism, valid up to 90 days
  • Business Visa — single entry, requires an invitation letter from a Solomon Islands company, up to 90 days
  • Work Permit/Visa — sponsor-based, applied for in advance through a Solomon Islands employer and the Ministry of Commerce, Labour and Immigration

How to apply

  • Contact the nearest Solomon Islands diplomatic mission (such as the High Commission in Canberra, Australia, or Suva, Fiji) or a recognized visa facilitation service, since there is no mission in Kenya
  • Submit the completed application form, passport, photos, accommodation proof, financial evidence, and travel insurance
  • Pay the visa fee as specified by the mission or agent, typically by bank transfer or card
  • Processing is generally handled by mail/courier given the lack of a local mission, so allow extra time for document transit
  • Standard processing takes approximately 10-15 working days once the mission receives a complete application

Fees & processing time

  • Visitor's Visa fee: approximately SBD 500-700 (approx. USD 60-85)
  • Visa facilitation/agent service fee (if used): typically USD 50-100
  • Total estimated cost: USD 110-185
  • Standard processing: 10-15 working days, longer if documents are couriered internationally
  • Express processing is not commonly offered given the remote application process

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Start the application at least 6-8 weeks before travel to allow for international courier time to and from the nearest diplomatic mission
  • Common rejection reasons include incomplete accommodation proof and unclear travel purpose
  • Consider using a reputable visa facilitation agency experienced with Pacific Island nations to simplify the process from Kenya
  • Since there are no direct flights from Nairobi, confirm transit visa requirements for whichever hub you connect through (commonly Australia or Fiji)
  • Extensions of stay inside the Solomon Islands are handled by the Ministry of Commerce, Labour and Immigration in Honiara
