Slovakia Visa for Kenya Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Kenyan citizens need a Schengen Type C visa to enter Slovakia, applied for in advance through the Slovak Embassy or an authorized visa application centre, since Slovakia has no separate national visa for short tourist or business stays.

Guide last updated September 25, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure from the Schengen area, issued within the last 10 years, with 2 blank pages
  • Completed Schengen visa application form
  • Confirmed round-trip flight itinerary and hotel bookings for the full trip
  • Financial proof: bank statements showing at least EUR 50-70 per day of stay
  • Two passport photos, 35mm x 45mm, white background, taken within the last 6 months
  • Biometrics: fingerprints and digital photo captured in person at the visa application centre or embassy
  • Travel health insurance: mandatory, minimum EUR 30,000 coverage valid across the whole Schengen area

Visa types

  • Schengen Type C Tourist Visa — single or multiple entry, valid up to 90 days within a 180-day period
  • Schengen Type C Business Visa — same validity, requires an invitation letter from a Slovak company or event organizer
  • Schengen Type D National Visa — for stays beyond 90 days (study, work), applied for through Slovak authorities with additional documentation

How to apply

  • Locate the nearest Slovak embassy or the Schengen visa application centre handling Slovak applications for Kenya (often routed through a regional mission or an authorized visa agent, since Slovakia has no consulate in Nairobi)
  • Submit the application form, passport, photos, insurance, itinerary, and financial proof
  • Attend the biometric appointment in person
  • Pay the Schengen visa fee (EUR 90 for adults, EUR 45 for children 6-11)
  • Standard processing takes 15 calendar days from a complete application, extending to 30-45 days during peak travel season

Fees & processing time

  • Schengen visa fee: EUR 90 (approx. USD 97) for adults; EUR 45 for children 6-11; free for children under 6
  • Visa agent or courier service fee (if applicable): approximately USD 30-50
  • Total estimated cost: USD 130-150
  • Standard processing: 15 working days
  • No official express option for short-stay Schengen visas at most missions

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Apply at least 4-6 weeks in advance, since Kenya has no local Slovak consulate and applications may need to be routed through a regional mission
  • Common rejection reasons include weak proof of ties to Kenya, insufficient bank statement history, and an unclear or inconsistent travel itinerary
  • Confirm exactly which mission currently accepts Slovak visa applications from Kenya before booking an appointment, as this can change
  • Include a detailed day-by-day itinerary and hotel confirmations for the entire Schengen trip, not only Slovakia
  • Any extension of stay must be requested from Slovak immigration authorities before the visa expires; there is no on-arrival extension option
