Samoa Visa for Kenya Citizens 2026

Visa on Arrival

Kenyan citizens receive a free 60-day visitor permit stamped on arrival at Faleolo International Airport — no advance visa application required, provided you hold a valid passport and return or onward ticket.

Guide last updated September 25, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of arrival, with at least 1 blank page
  • No advance visa application form — entry permit is issued at the border on arrival
  • Confirmed return or onward flight ticket
  • Proof of sufficient funds (cash, card statement, or accommodation booking) for the length of stay
  • Confirmed hotel booking or address of host in Samoa
  • Passport photo not required for entry, only for later permit extensions (2 photos, 45mm x 35mm, white background)
  • Biometrics: fingerprint/photo capture may be taken by Samoa Immigration at Faleolo International Airport on arrival
  • Travel health insurance: not mandatory but strongly recommended given limited hospital capacity

Visa types

  • Visitor Entry Permit — tourism, issued free on arrival, single entry, valid up to 60 days
  • Business Visit Permit — for short business trips, issued on arrival on presentation of an invitation letter, up to 30 days, extendable
  • Cruise Passenger Shore Pass — issued to cruise ship passengers for the duration of the port call only

Visa on arrival

  • Arrive at Faleolo International Airport (Apia) and proceed to the Samoa Immigration desk after disembarking
  • Present your passport, completed arrival/disembarkation card, and return or onward ticket
  • An immigration officer stamps a Visitor Entry Permit valid for up to 60 days directly into your passport — no fee is charged for the standard 60-day permit
  • Business travelers should carry a company invitation letter to speed up processing
  • Queues are generally short outside peak cruise-ship arrival times; have your accommodation address ready as officers sometimes ask for it

Fees & processing time

  • Standard 60-day Visitor Entry Permit: no fee
  • Permit extension at the Ministry of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Immigration Division (Apia): WST 270 (approx. USD 100) for a further 30 days
  • Extension processing time: 3-5 working days
  • No express/priority option for on-arrival permits since they are issued immediately at the airport

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Book your return or onward flight before departure — airlines routinely check this before boarding, since Samoa entry depends on it
  • Carry printed proof of accommodation; Samoa immigration officers occasionally request it even though it's not always asked for
  • Kenyan passport holders should still check for any transit visa needs in connecting hubs (e.g., Australia, New Zealand, Fiji) on the route to Samoa
  • If you plan to stay beyond 60 days, start the extension process at the Immigration Division in Apia at least a week before your permit expires
  • Direct flights from Kenya do not exist — most routings connect via Fiji, Australia, or New Zealand, so confirm any transit visa requirements for those countries separately
