Nauru Visa for Kenya Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Kenyan citizens need an Entry Permit (visa) for Nauru, applied for in advance via the Nauru Government — there is no e-Visa; approval typically takes 2-4 weeks.

Guide last updated September 25, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended stay
  • Completed Nauru Entry Permit Application form, available from the Nauru Government (nauru.gov.nr) or the Nauru mission handling the application
  • A local sponsor or inviting party in Nauru (individual, employer, or government agency) who submits or co-signs the application
  • Confirmed return/onward flight itinerary, since Nauru has very limited flight connections (mainly via Nauru Airlines from Brisbane or Fiji)
  • Proof of accommodation and sufficient funds for the stay
  • Passport-style photo (standard 2 recent color photos, white background)
  • No biometric enrollment required in advance; standard passport checks occur on arrival
  • Travel health insurance covering medical evacuation is strongly recommended, as Nauru's medical facilities are very limited

Visa types

  • Visitor Entry Permit: single entry, validity tied to approved stay length (commonly up to 30 days), for tourism or family visits
  • Business Entry Permit: single entry, for business visits, requires a letter from the inviting Nauruan company or government department
  • Employment Entry Permit: for those taking up work in Nauru, requires an employment contract and is processed together with a work permit by the employer
  • There is no visa-on-arrival or e-Visa option for Kenyan citizens

How to apply

  • There is no embassy or consulate of Nauru in Kenya; applications are submitted by email/post directly to the Nauru Government's Immigration Office or via your local sponsor in Nauru
  • Your sponsor in Nauru typically initiates or co-submits the Entry Permit application with the Department of Justice and Border Control
  • Submit the completed application form, passport copy, photos, sponsor letter, and travel itinerary
  • Approval is issued as a letter/permit number that must be presented, along with your passport, when checking in for your flight and on arrival
  • No interview is required, but processing can be slow due to limited staffing, so early application is essential

Fees & processing time

  • Entry Permit fee: approximately AUD 150-200 (roughly USD 100-135), payable as instructed by the Nauru immigration office, often via bank transfer since Nauru uses the Australian dollar
  • No separate VFS/BLS service fee, since applications go directly to the government office
  • Standard processing time: 2-4 weeks, sometimes longer given the small size of the administration
  • No formal express service is offered; allow generous lead time before booking flights

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Start the application at least 6-8 weeks before travel given slow processing and the lack of a local Nauru mission in Kenya
  • Confirm a sponsor in Nauru first — applications without a credible local sponsor are the most common reason for delay or rejection
  • Book flights only after the Entry Permit is confirmed, since Nauru Airlines has very limited weekly frequencies and non-refundable fares
  • Carry printed copies of the approval letter, as electronic-only confirmations are not always accepted by ground staff at transit airports
  • Extensions of stay must be requested locally through the Department of Justice and Border Control before the permit expires
