Myanmar Visa for Kenya Citizens 2026

e-Visa / eTA

Kenyan citizens need an e-Visa for Myanmar — apply online at evisa.moip.gov.mm; tourist e-Visa fee is USD 50, processing 3 business days.

Guide last updated September 25, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry, with at least 1 blank page
  • Digital passport-style photo (color, white background, taken within the last 6 months) uploaded during the online application
  • Confirmed return or onward flight ticket
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter)
  • Proof of sufficient funds (bank statement recommended, though rarely checked on arrival)
  • No biometrics collection required for the e-Visa itself; fingerprints and photo are taken on arrival at the port of entry
  • Travel health insurance is not mandatory but strongly recommended given limited medical facilities outside Yangon and Mandalay

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa: single entry, valid for use within 90 days of approval, permits a stay of up to 28 days, fee USD 50
  • Business e-Visa: single entry, valid for use within 90 days of approval, permits a stay of up to 70 days, fee USD 70, requires an invitation letter from a Myanmar-registered company
  • Multiple-entry business visas are not available online and must be arranged through the Myanmar embassy or a registered agent

How to apply online

  • Apply at evisa.moip.gov.mm, the official Ministry of Immigration and Population portal
  • Create an account, complete the online form, upload your photo and passport bio page
  • Pay the fee by Visa or Mastercard (USD 50 for tourist, USD 70 for business)
  • Processing takes 3 business days on average; you receive an approval letter (visa grant notification) by email
  • Print the approval letter and present it with your passport at the port of entry (Yangon, Mandalay, or Nay Pyi Taw international airports, and select land borders); the visa sticker itself is affixed on arrival
  • The Myanmar embassy/consular section (mofa.gov.mm) can be contacted for questions the e-Visa helpdesk cannot resolve

Fees & processing time

  • Tourist e-Visa: USD 50, business e-Visa: USD 70, paid online by card — no separate service fee since applications go directly through the government portal
  • Standard processing: 3 business days
  • No official express option; applying at least a week before travel is recommended to allow for any resubmission
  • Total cost for most Kenyan tourists: USD 50 plus the card processing fee charged by your bank

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Apply at least 7-10 days before departure to leave room for any document resubmission
  • Common rejection reasons: blurry photo uploads, passport bio page not fully visible, or mismatched name spelling between the form and passport
  • There is no VFS or BLS center for Myanmar in Kenya, so the e-Visa portal is the only practical route; the embassy in Nairobi does not issue visas directly
  • Extensions of stay (up to 14 extra days) can be arranged in person at the Yangon Immigration Office for a daily overstay-adjacent fee
  • Check the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs site for any regional travel advisories before finalizing an itinerary, as access to certain states can be restricted
