e-Visa / eTA

Kenyan citizens can apply for a Mongolia e-visa online before travel, with approval typically issued within a few working days for stays of up to 30 days.

Guide last updated September 25, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended entry date
  • Completed online e-visa application with a scanned passport bio-data page
  • Recent digital passport-style photo (white background) uploaded during the application
  • Proof of onward or return travel (flight itinerary)
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter from a host in Mongolia)
  • Evidence of sufficient funds for the stay
  • Travel health insurance covering the duration of stay
  • Biometrics: fingerprints and photo captured at the immigration counter on arrival at Chinggis Khaan International Airport

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa: single entry, valid for a stay of up to 30 days, must be used within 90 days of approval
  • Business e-Visa: same online process, requires an invitation letter from a Mongolian company or organization, single entry, up to 30 days
  • Transit e-Visa: for short stopovers en route to a third country, shorter validity
  • Longer-stay or multiple-entry visas require a separate application through a Mongolian embassy where available

How to apply online

  • Applications are submitted through Mongolia's official e-visa portal (evisa.gov.mn), operated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Register an account, complete the application form with personal and travel details, and upload your passport scan and photo
  • Pay the e-visa fee online by credit or debit card
  • Approval is typically communicated by email within 3-4 working days
  • Print the e-visa approval letter and present it along with your passport at immigration on arrival
  • Keep a digital copy accessible on your phone as backup in case of printing issues

Fees & processing time

  • E-visa fee: approximately USD 53 for standard processing, with a higher fee (around USD 106) for urgent/expedited processing
  • No separate VFS/BLS service fee, as the portal is government-operated
  • Standard processing time: 3-4 working days from submission
  • Urgent processing option available for an additional fee, typically reducing turnaround to 1-2 working days

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Apply for the e-visa at least 2 weeks before departure to allow time for processing and any follow-up document requests
  • Double-check your flight routing, as Mongolia has limited direct connections from East Africa and usually requires transit through the Middle East or China
  • Keep both printed and digital copies of your e-visa approval letter
  • Pack for extreme seasonal temperature variation, as this affects document and clothing preparation more than the visa process itself
  • Have your hotel booking or invitation letter easily accessible for immigration checks on arrival
