Monaco Visa for Kenya Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Kenyan citizens need a Schengen visa to visit Monaco, since Monaco has no separate consulate network and entry is controlled through France; apply for a French Schengen visa via VFS Global in Nairobi.

Guide last updated September 25, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure date from the Schengen area, issued within the last 10 years
  • Completed and signed Schengen (France) visa application form, since Monaco has open borders with France and is treated as part of the Schengen travel area for entry purposes
  • Proof of sufficient funds: bank statements for the last 3 months
  • Confirmed round-trip flight reservation and detailed travel itinerary, including plans to visit Monaco
  • Proof of accommodation for the entire stay (hotel bookings in Monaco or France, or invitation letter)
  • Two recent passport photos (35mm x 45mm, white background)
  • Biometrics: fingerprints and digital photo captured in person at the VFS Global France visa application centre in Nairobi
  • Schengen travel health insurance with minimum EUR 30,000 medical coverage

Visa types

  • Schengen Tourist/Visit Visa (Type C) via France: single or multiple entry, valid up to 90 days within a 180-day period, fee EUR 90 for adults
  • Business Visa: same Type C category, requires an invitation letter from a Monaco-based company, same fee structure
  • There is no separate "Monaco visa" - a valid Schengen visa issued by France (or another Schengen state listing Monaco in the itinerary) covers entry to Monaco

How to apply

  • Apply for a French Schengen visa through VFS Global's France visa application centre in Nairobi, listing Monaco as part of your itinerary
  • Complete the online Schengen application form and gather all required documents, including Monaco-specific accommodation or invitation details if applicable
  • Attend the appointment in person to submit biometrics, documents, and pay the visa fee
  • Standard processing time is up to 15 working days, though it can extend during peak periods
  • Once issued, the Schengen visa sticker (in your passport) permits entry into Monaco as well as France and other Schengen states, since there are no border controls between France and Monaco

Fees & processing time

  • Schengen visa fee (via France): EUR 90 for adults, EUR 45 for children aged 6-12
  • VFS Global service fee: approximately KES 3,000-4,000 in addition to the visa fee
  • Total estimated cost: roughly EUR 90 plus VFS service charge
  • Standard processing: up to 15 working days from the appointment date; no dedicated express service for this route

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Apply at least 4-6 weeks before travel, clearly listing Monaco as part of your Schengen itinerary alongside France
  • Common rejection reasons for Kenyan applicants include insufficient proof of funds and unclear travel purpose - be specific about your Monaco plans in your cover letter
  • Since Monaco has no separate consulate, always apply through the French Schengen visa channel (VFS Global Nairobi)
  • Book accommodation confirmations for both France and Monaco legs if your trip covers both
  • Extensions within the Schengen area are only granted in exceptional circumstances through French immigration authorities
