Micronesia Visa for Kenya Citizens 2026

Visa Free

Kenyan citizens can enter the Federated States of Micronesia visa-free for tourism stays of up to 30 days, with entry permits issued on arrival.

Guide last updated September 25, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended stay
  • No visa application form required for stays up to 30 days
  • Confirmed onward or return travel ticket
  • Proof of accommodation for the duration of stay
  • Evidence of sufficient funds to support the visit
  • Entry permit issued by immigration on arrival (a simple stamp, not a pre-arranged document)
  • Biometrics: photo and passport scan taken at the immigration counter on arrival
  • Travel health insurance: recommended given limited medical facilities on the outer islands

Visa types

  • Visa-free Visitor Entry Permit: granted on arrival for up to 30 days, covers tourism and short business visits, no local employment permitted
  • Extension: possible by applying to the FSM Division of Immigration before the initial 30 days expire, generally granted for good cause up to a further 30 days
  • Business/Work Permit: for longer engagements, requires sponsorship by an FSM-registered entity and is arranged separately through the National or State government

Entry conditions

  • Kenyan citizens are granted visa-free entry for up to 30 days upon arrival at any of Micronesia's four state airports (Pohnpei, Chuuk, Yap, or Kosrae)
  • No paid local employment or long-term residence is allowed on the visa-free entry permit
  • Immigration officers issue the entry stamp directly at the airport; no advance application is required
  • Extensions must be requested at the relevant state's immigration office before the initial period lapses
  • Given the FSM's four-state structure, travel between states may require separate state permits in some cases - check locally on arrival

Fees & processing time

  • No fee for the standard 30-day visa-free entry
  • Extension requests typically carry a modest administrative fee, processed within a few days at the relevant state immigration office
  • No VFS/BLS fees apply since no advance visa is required
  • Total cost for a standard visit is effectively zero beyond standard airport/departure taxes

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Confirm your specific state of entry (Pohnpei, Chuuk, Yap, or Kosrae) in advance, as flight connections to Micronesia are limited and usually routed via Guam or Honolulu
  • Carry proof of onward travel and accommodation, as immigration officers may ask for these at the counter
  • If planning inter-island travel within FSM, check whether additional state-level permits or paperwork are needed
  • Given very limited banking/ATM infrastructure on outer islands, carry sufficient USD cash for your trip
  • Request any extension well before your 30-day entry period lapses to avoid overstay issues
