Malaysia Visa for Kenya Citizens 2026

Visa Free

Kenyan citizens can enter Malaysia visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism or business under Malaysia's visa exemption policy.

Guide last updated September 25, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date, with at least one blank page
  • No visa or entry permit application form required for stays up to 30 days
  • Proof of onward or return travel (confirmed ticket)
  • Proof of accommodation for the duration of stay (hotel booking or invitation letter)
  • Evidence of sufficient funds (recommended at least MYR 500 per day, or USD 100+ equivalent)
  • Passport-size photo not required for entry, but keep 2 spares (35mm x 50mm, white background) in case of any onward visa needs
  • Biometrics: fingerprints and photo taken on arrival at the Malaysian Immigration counter (MyIMMs system)
  • Travel health insurance: not mandatory but strongly recommended given no free public healthcare access for visitors

Visa types

  • Visa-free social visit pass: issued at the border for up to 30 days, covers tourism, social visits and short business meetings (no local employment)
  • No separate "visa" category applies for stays under 30 days; longer stays or work require a Single Entry Visa or Employment Pass applied for in advance through a Malaysian mission
  • Business visa (if attending conferences/negotiations beyond a short visit): apply via the nearest Malaysian High Commission, fee approx. MYR 20-100 depending on entry type, valid 3 months single entry

Entry conditions

  • Kenyan passport holders are granted a 30-day visa-free stay on arrival for tourism or business visits
  • No paid employment, study, or long-term residence is permitted on the visa-free stamp
  • Immigration officers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) or other entry points will stamp the passport; no pre-arrival application is needed
  • Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) must be completed online within 3 days before arrival at imigresen-online.imi.gov.my
  • Extensions beyond 30 days are rarely granted; travelers needing longer stays should apply for the appropriate visa before departure
  • Overstaying is a serious offense in Malaysia and can result in fines, detention, or blacklisting

Fees & processing time

  • No fee for the visa-free 30-day entry stamp
  • MDAC online arrival card registration: free of charge
  • If a Single Entry Visa is later required (e.g., for extended business), the fee is approximately MYR 20-100 (about USD 4-22), processed in 3-5 working days at a Malaysian mission
  • No VFS or third-party service fee applies since no advance visa is needed for short visits

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Complete the MDAC arrival card online 1-3 days before your flight to avoid delays at immigration
  • Carry printed proof of your return ticket and hotel booking, as Malaysian immigration officers occasionally ask for these at the counter
  • Do not rely on the visa-free stamp for job-seeking or employment; work requires a separate Employment Pass arranged by a Malaysian employer
  • If transiting through a third country en route, check that country's transit visa rules separately
  • For stays beyond 30 days, apply for the correct visa category at the Malaysian High Commission in Nairobi well in advance
