Kuwait Visa for Kenya Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Kenyan citizens need a sponsored entry visa for Kuwait — apply via a Kuwaiti sponsor through the Ministry of Interior's e-service (evisa.moi.gov.kw) or the Kuwaiti embassy; fee around KWD 3-25 depending on visa type, processing 3-7 working days.

Guide last updated September 25, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from date of entry
  • Kuwaiti sponsor (relative, employer, or hotel/tour operator) to initiate the e-visa application
  • Completed online application via the Ministry of Interior portal (evisa.moi.gov.kw)
  • Two recent passport-size photos (white background)
  • Confirmed hotel booking or sponsor's address details
  • Return flight ticket
  • Proof of funds (bank statement covering the stay)
  • Travel/health insurance recommended, sometimes checked at check-in
  • Biometrics: fingerprints and photo captured on arrival at Kuwait International Airport

Visa types

  • Tourist visa — sponsored by a licensed tour operator or hotel, single entry, valid 3 months from issue, max stay 90 days, fee about KWD 3 (~USD 10)
  • Visit visa — sponsored by a Kuwaiti citizen or resident relative/friend, single or multiple entry, validity up to 6 months, fee about KWD 25 (~USD 80)
  • Business visa — sponsored by a Kuwaiti company, single entry, max stay 30 days, fee about KWD 10 (~USD 33)

How to apply

  • Arrange sponsorship first — a Kuwaiti resident, relative, hotel, or registered tour operator must submit the request through the Ministry of Interior's e-visa portal (evisa.moi.gov.kw)
  • Once the sponsor's application is approved, the applicant receives an e-visa reference by email
  • Alternatively, apply in person at the Kuwaiti embassy (see mofa.gov.kw for contact details) with the sponsor's invitation letter
  • Pay the visa fee online via the portal or at the embassy counter
  • Processing typically takes 3-7 working days once the sponsor's request is submitted
  • Print the e-visa approval and present it with your passport on arrival

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: KWD 3-25 (about USD 10-80) depending on visa category
  • No separate VFS service fee — applications go through the sponsor and the MOI portal directly
  • Total estimated cost: USD 10-80 plus any sponsor/agent facilitation charges
  • Standard processing: 3-7 working days after sponsor submission
  • Urgent/same-day processing is sometimes available through licensed tour operators for tourist visas, for an additional service fee

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Secure your sponsor (hotel, tour operator, or relative) well before booking flights, since the visa cannot be initiated without one
  • Common rejection reasons: unverified sponsor details, mismatched passport information, insufficient bank statement
  • Working with a licensed Kuwaiti travel agency is usually faster and more reliable than applying directly through relatives
  • Overstaying incurs daily fines, so track your visa validity closely
  • Extensions of visit visas can be requested at the Kuwait Ministry of Interior before expiry, subject to sponsor approval
