Iraq Visa for Kenya Citizens 2026

e-Visa / eTA

Kenyan citizens can apply for an Iraqi e-Visa online at evisa.gov.iq — fee approx. USD 75-77, processing 3-5 business days.

Guide last updated September 25, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Digital passport photo uploaded during the online application
  • Scanned copy of the passport bio-data page
  • Confirmed hotel booking or address of stay in Iraq
  • Return or onward flight ticket
  • Sufficient funds for the trip (may be requested at immigration)
  • No biometrics required for the e-Visa itself; fingerprints may be taken at the immigration desk on arrival as standard border procedure

Visa types

  • e-Visa Tourist: single entry, up to 60 days, fee approx. USD 75-77
  • e-Visa Business: single entry, similar validity, requires an invitation letter from an Iraqi company or organization
  • Visa on arrival (limited nationalities/airports): where available, similar fee and validity to the e-Visa
  • Regular sticker visa: available through the Iraqi Embassy for longer stays, work, or entry via land borders not covered by e-Visa

How to apply online

  • Register and apply at evisa.gov.iq, selecting the appropriate visa type and entry point
  • Upload the passport bio-page scan and a recent digital photo
  • Pay the fee online by credit/debit card
  • Approval is sent by email as a PDF e-Visa; print it and present it with the passport at check-in and on arrival
  • Note that entry via the Kurdistan Region (Erbil, Sulaymaniyah) may have separate visa-on-arrival rules distinct from federal Iraq's e-Visa system

Fees & processing time

  • e-Visa fee: approximately USD 75-77, inclusive of the online processing charge
  • No additional service center fee since the process is entirely online
  • Standard processing time: 3-5 business days
  • No formal express service; applying at least 1-2 weeks ahead is recommended to allow for verification delays
  • Airport visa-on-arrival, where offered, is issued on the spot for a comparable fee

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Confirm which entry point you will use (federal Iraq vs. the Kurdistan Region) since visa rules and fees can differ between the two
  • Common rejection reasons: mismatched personal details, low-resolution photo uploads, or missing proof of accommodation
  • Carry both a printed and digital copy of the approved e-Visa for check-in and immigration
  • Check current security and travel advisories for Iraq before finalizing travel plans, as conditions vary by region
  • Extensions beyond the e-Visa validity require an in-person application to Iraqi immigration authorities before the visa expires
