Ecuador Visa for Kenya Citizens 2026

e-Visa / eTA

Kenyan citizens need an e-visa for Ecuador, applied for online through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' consular portal — fee around USD 50, processing 10-15 business days.

Guide last updated September 24, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry, scanned in full colour
  • Digital passport-size photo, white background, uploaded during the online application
  • Proof of onward or return travel (flight itinerary)
  • Proof of accommodation for your stay (hotel booking or host's address)
  • Bank statements for the last 3 months showing sufficient funds
  • Travel/medical insurance covering your stay in Ecuador is recommended and sometimes requested
  • No biometrics are required for the e-visa itself, though immigration may photograph/fingerprint on arrival as standard border procedure

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa (Visa de Turismo) — single or multiple entry, valid for a stay of up to 90 days within a 12-month period
  • Business e-Visa — for meetings, conferences, and short commercial activity, similar validity to the tourist e-visa plus a company invitation letter
  • Transit visa — for travelers passing through Ecuador to a third country, shorter validity
  • Longer-stay and residence visas (e.g. for work or the popular digital-nomad category) require a separate application process, not the standard tourist e-visa

How to apply online

  • Apply through Ecuador's official consular e-visa portal (visas.cancilleria.gob.ec)
  • Create an account, complete the online form, and upload your passport scan, photo, and supporting documents
  • Pay the e-visa fee online by credit/debit card in USD
  • Applications are reviewed remotely by Ecuadorian consular officers; no in-person interview is normally required for straightforward tourist applications
  • Once approved, the e-visa is emailed as a PDF — print a copy and carry it along with your passport when you travel
  • Immigration at the port of entry will check the e-visa against your passport and stamp you in for the authorized stay

Fees & processing time

  • E-visa fee: approximately USD 50 for a standard tourist e-visa
  • No separate service/agency fee since the application is submitted directly through the government portal
  • Standard processing time: 10-15 business days from a complete submission
  • Incomplete or unclear applications can take longer if the consulate requests additional documents
  • No official express/priority processing option is currently offered for this e-visa category

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Apply at least 3-4 weeks before your planned travel date to leave buffer for the 10-15 business day review plus any follow-up requests
  • Common rejection/delay reasons: blurry or incomplete document scans, insufficient proof of funds, and unclear travel itinerary
  • Double-check the portal for the latest fee and required documents, as Ecuador's e-visa rules are updated periodically
  • Keep both a digital and printed copy of your approved e-visa — border officers may ask for a physical copy
  • Ecuador has no embassy in Kenya, so all communication with the consulate is by email; respond promptly to any request for extra documents to avoid delays
