Cyprus Visa for Kenya Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Kenyan citizens need a national Cyprus visa (Cyprus is not part of the Schengen area), applied for through VFS Global or the Cypriot embassy; the visa fee is around EUR 60 with standard processing of about 10-15 business days.

Guide last updated September 24, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure from Cyprus, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Recent passport-style photo, white background
  • Completed Cyprus national visa application form
  • Travel medical insurance covering the full stay in Cyprus
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter) for the full stay
  • Round-trip flight itinerary/reservation
  • Bank statements for the last 3 months showing sufficient funds
  • Letter of employment or business registration showing ties to Kenya
  • Biometrics: fingerprints and photo collected in person at the visa application centre or embassy

Visa types

  • Category C (short-stay) visa - Tourism: single, double or multiple entry, validity up to 90 days within a 180-day period, fee approx. EUR 60
  • Category C visa - Business: same validity structure, requires an invitation letter from a Cyprus-based company
  • Note: Cyprus is not part of the Schengen area, so a Cyprus visa alone does not grant entry to other Schengen states, and a valid Schengen visa does not automatically grant entry to Cyprus either, though some Schengen visa holders may qualify for simplified entry under specific conditions

How to apply

  • Book an appointment with VFS Global (the Cyprus visa application centre serving Kenya) or the Cypriot embassy/consulate handling Kenyan applications
  • Complete the application form and gather all supporting documents, including travel insurance and financial proof
  • Attend the appointment in person to submit documents and provide biometrics
  • Pay the EUR 60 visa fee plus the VFS service fee at the appointment
  • Standard processing takes about 10-15 business days from the appointment date; track status via the VFS reference number

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: approx. EUR 60 for the standard short-stay category C visa
  • VFS Global service fee: additional charge on top of the consular fee, typically EUR 25-30
  • Standard processing: 10-15 business days; can extend longer if additional documentation is requested
  • No guaranteed express service; apply well ahead of the intended travel date

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Apply at least 4 weeks before travel to allow for appointment scheduling and standard processing time
  • Common rejection reasons for Kenyan applicants: insufficient proof of funds, weak ties to Kenya, incomplete travel insurance, or an unclear travel itinerary
  • Double-check whether your trip also requires a separate Schengen visa if you plan to visit other European countries, since a Cyprus visa does not cover Schengen travel
  • Book your VFS appointment as early as possible, as slots can be limited
  • Keep copies of all submitted documents, as they may be requested again if applying for a subsequent visa or an extension
