Guide last updated September 24, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure from Croatia, issued within the last 10 years, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Recent passport-style photo (35x45mm, white background) per Schengen specifications
  • Completed and signed Schengen-style visa application form
  • Travel medical insurance with minimum EUR 30,000 coverage, valid across Croatia and the wider Schengen area
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter) for the full stay
  • Round-trip flight itinerary/reservation
  • Bank statements for the last 3 months showing sufficient funds
  • Letter of employment or business registration showing ties to Kenya
  • Biometrics: fingerprints and photo collected in person at the visa application centre or embassy

Visa types

  • Short-stay (C) visa - Tourism: single, double or multiple entry, validity up to 90 days within a 180-day period, fee EUR 90 for adults (EUR 45 for children aged 6-12, free under 6)
  • Short-stay (C) visa - Business: same validity structure, requires an invitation letter from a Croatian company
  • Airport transit visa: for travelers transiting through a Croatian airport without entering the country, lower fee and simpler documentation

How to apply

  • Book an appointment with VFS Global (the Croatian visa application centre serving Kenya) or the Croatian embassy handling Kenyan applications
  • Complete the application form online or on paper and gather all supporting documents, including travel insurance and financial proof
  • Attend the appointment in person to submit documents and provide biometrics (fingerprints and photo)
  • Pay the EUR 90 visa fee plus the VFS service fee at the appointment
  • Standard processing takes up to 15 calendar days from the appointment date, though it can extend to 30-45 days in complex cases; track status via the VFS reference number

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: EUR 90 for adults, EUR 45 for children 6-12, free for children under 6
  • VFS Global service fee: additional charge on top of the consular fee, typically EUR 25-30
  • Standard processing: up to 15 calendar days; can extend up to 30-45 days if additional documentation or consultation with other Schengen states is required
  • No guaranteed express service; apply as early as the visa window allows (up to 6 months, but no less than 15 days before travel)

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Apply at least 4-6 weeks before travel to account for appointment availability and possible processing delays
  • Common rejection reasons for Kenyan applicants: insufficient proof of funds, weak ties to Kenya, incomplete travel insurance, or an unclear purpose/itinerary of travel
  • Since Croatia is in the Schengen area, a Croatian visa allows travel within the wider Schengen zone for the visa's validity period
  • Book your VFS appointment as early as possible, as slots can be limited
  • Extensions inside Croatia are only granted in exceptional circumstances (medical emergency, force majeure) - plan your itinerary to fit within the granted validity
