Cape Verde Visa for Kenya Citizens 2026

Visa on Arrival

Kenyan citizens can obtain a Cape Verde entry visa on arrival, or apply in advance online for the EASE (Electronic Advance Travel Authorization) for about EUR 34, with processing of 24-48 hours.

Guide last updated September 24, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from date of entry
  • Passport-style photo (for the online EASE application or the on-arrival form)
  • Completed EASE application or on-arrival visa form with travel details
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking) for the stay
  • Proof of onward/return ticket
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the trip
  • Biometrics: not required for the EASE; fingerprints/photo may be taken on arrival by immigration
  • Travel health insurance: recommended

Visa types

  • EASE (Electronic Advance Travel Authorization): single entry, valid for use within 6 months of issue, max stay 30 days (extendable), fee approx. EUR 34
  • Visa on arrival (issued at Praia or Sal international airports for travelers who did not pre-apply online): single entry, max stay 30 days, fee approx. EUR 25-34
  • Business/long-stay visas require pre-arrangement through the nearest Cape Verdean consulate (Cape Verde has no embassy in Kenya)

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Amilcar Cabral International Airport (Sal) and Nelson Mandela International Airport (Praia)
  • Steps: complete the arrival visa form, submit passport, photo and payment (EUR or USD cash accepted) at the immigration desk before passport control
  • Processing takes about 10-20 minutes per traveler depending on queue length
  • Pre-applying for the EASE online before departure is recommended to speed up arrival and guarantee entry, since on-arrival issuance is at immigration officers' discretion

Fees & processing time

  • EASE (online, in advance): approx. EUR 34, processed within 24-48 hours, paid by card during the online application
  • Visa on arrival: approx. EUR 25-34 cash, processed on the spot (10-20 minutes)
  • No separate VFS/BLS agency fee - both routes are handled directly by Cape Verdean authorities
  • Extensions of up to 30 additional days can be requested at the Foreigners and Borders Service office in Praia for a small local fee

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Apply for the EASE online at least 2-3 days before departure to avoid any uncertainty at the airport counter
  • Carry both the EASE approval printout and enough cash (EUR or USD) in case a fallback visa-on-arrival payment is needed
  • Common delay reasons: unclear photo uploads or a return ticket date that does not match the requested stay length
  • Keep proof of accommodation ready, as immigration officers occasionally request it on arrival
  • Since there is no Cape Verdean embassy in Nairobi, the EASE/visa-on-arrival route is the only practical option for most Kenyan travelers
