Guide last updated September 24, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from date of entry, with at least 1 blank page
  • Passport-style photo, 4x6cm, white background, taken within the last 6 months
  • Completed Cambodia visa application form (online for e-Visa, paper form for visa on arrival)
  • Proof of onward/return ticket
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking) for the duration of stay
  • Sufficient funds for the trip (may be requested at immigration, approx. USD 50/day recommended)
  • Biometrics: not required for Kenyan tourist applicants
  • Travel health insurance: recommended but not mandatory

Visa types

  • Tourist visa (T-class): single entry, valid for use within 3 months of issue, max stay 30 days, fee USD 30 (on arrival) or USD 36 (e-Visa, includes USD 6 processing fee)
  • Ordinary/Business visa (E-class): single entry, max stay 30 days initially (extendable), fee USD 35 on arrival, obtained through the same e-Visa portal or on arrival
  • E-Visa is only valid for entry through Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville international airports plus a small number of land/sea checkpoints - travelers entering elsewhere should use visa on arrival

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville international airports and most major land border crossings
  • Steps: fill in the arrival visa form (or bring a printed copy), submit passport, photo and USD 30 cash (small bills, USD is widely accepted) at the visa counter before immigration
  • Processing takes 5-15 minutes depending on queue length; arrive early if landing during peak evening hours
  • Alternatively apply for the e-Visa at evisa.gov.kh 3 business days before travel to skip the on-arrival queue - approval is emailed as a PDF to print and present at entry

Fees & processing time

  • Visa on arrival: USD 30 cash, paid at the border, processed same day (5-15 minutes)
  • e-Visa: USD 30 visa fee + USD 6 processing fee = USD 36 total, paid online by card, standard processing 3 business days
  • No separate service agency fee if applying directly through evisa.gov.kh
  • Extensions inside Cambodia cost around USD 45-50 for a 30-day extension through a local travel agent or the Department of Immigration in Phnom Penh

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Apply for the e-Visa at least 5-7 days before departure to allow for any processing delays, since Kenyan passport applications are occasionally flagged for manual review
  • Carry a printed copy of the e-Visa approval - relying only on a phone screenshot has caused delays for some travelers
  • Common rejection/delay reasons: blurry uploaded photo, passport scan with glare, or application details not matching the passport exactly
  • If entering by land from Thailand or Vietnam, confirm the specific border post accepts e-Visas, as a few smaller crossings only issue visas on arrival
  • Overstaying accrues a fine of USD 10 per day, collected on departure
