What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the visa's expiry, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Completed Belarus visa application form (available via mfa.gov.by)
  • 1 recent passport photo (35mm x 45mm, white background)
  • Medical/travel insurance valid in Belarus with minimum EUR 30,000 coverage
  • Confirmed hotel booking or invitation from a host in Belarus
  • Proof of sufficient funds (approximately USD 50-70 per day of stay)
  • Round-trip flight itinerary
  • Biometrics (fingerprints) captured at the consulate for first-time applicants

Visa types

  • Tourist visa (single/double entry): up to 30 days, fee approximately USD 60
  • Business visa (single/multiple entry): up to 90 days per entry within a year, requires an invitation letter from a Belarusian company, fee approximately USD 90
  • Private/family visit visa: requires notarized invitation from a Belarusian resident
  • Transit visa: for travelers connecting through Belarus, up to 2 days

How to apply

  • Belarus has no resident embassy in Kenya; Kenyan applicants typically apply through the Belarusian embassy accredited to the region (commonly Cairo or Addis Ababa) or by courier
  • Alternatively, travelers arriving via Minsk National Airport by air may be eligible for Belarus' short-term visa-free/e-visa regime if arriving directly (check current eligibility, as this changes and is not guaranteed for all nationalities)
  • Submit your application, documents and biometrics at the accredited mission
  • Pay the visa fee in USD or EUR cash or by card
  • Collect your passport with the visa once processed, or have it couriered back

Fees & processing time

  • Tourist visa fee: approximately USD 60
  • Business visa fee: approximately USD 90
  • Urgent/express processing (where offered): additional USD 30-50
  • Standard processing time: 5-10 working days
  • Express processing (where available): 2-3 working days

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Apply at least 3-4 weeks ahead given the courier time to the nearest accredited Belarusian mission
  • Common rejection reasons: inadequate insurance coverage, unclear purpose of visit, insufficient invitation documentation
  • Keep printed copies of your invitation letter and insurance policy to present at both the consulate and Belarusian border control
  • Check current entry rules before travel, as regional visa-free arrangements for Minsk airport arrivals are periodically revised
