What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Completed Bangladesh visa application form (online via visa.gov.bd)
  • 2 recent passport-size photos (45mm x 35mm, white background)
  • Confirmed return/onward flight ticket
  • Hotel booking or invitation letter from a Bangladesh resident/company
  • Bank statement (last 3-6 months) showing sufficient funds
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate (Kenya is a yellow fever endemic country, so this is mandatory)
  • Biometrics (fingerprints and photo) captured at the mission or on arrival

Visa types

  • Tourist visa (single entry): up to 30 days, non-extendable without cause, single entry, fee from USD 51
  • Business visa: up to 90 days, multiple entry, requires an invitation letter from a Bangladeshi company, fee from USD 51
  • Official/NGO visa: for conference or work-related travel, requires a letter from the host organization

How to apply

  • Bangladesh has no resident diplomatic mission in Kenya, so Kenyan applicants apply online first
  • Submit the online application and required documents at visa.gov.bd to obtain a visa recommendation/approval
  • Once approved, either courier your passport to the nearest accredited Bangladesh mission (commonly routed via New Delhi) for stamping, or present the printed approval at the Visa-on-Arrival desk at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka, if your approval qualifies
  • Pay the visa fee in USD or BDT cash at the counter or mission
  • Collect your passport with the visa sticker before travel, or clear immigration at Dhaka with the approval printout

Fees & processing time

  • Tourist single-entry visa fee: approximately USD 51 (BDT equivalent)
  • Business visa fee: approximately USD 51-100 depending on entry validity
  • No separate VFS service fee since Bangladesh processes directly
  • Standard online recommendation processing: 5-10 working days
  • On-arrival stamping (once pre-approved): same day

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Apply at least 3 weeks before travel since Kenya has no resident Bangladesh mission and courier transit adds time
  • Common rejection reasons: missing yellow fever certificate, insufficient bank balance, no confirmed return ticket
  • Carry printed copies of your online approval, hotel booking and return ticket even if flying straight to Dhaka
  • Extensions are handled by the Department of Immigration and Passports in Dhaka and are granted only for documented emergencies
