Vietnam Visa for Hong Kong Citizens 2026

e-Visa / eTA

Hong Kong SAR passport holders need a Vietnam e-visa, applied for online before travel, which permits a single or multiple entry for tourism or business of up to 90 days.

Guide last updated October 25, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • HKSAR passport valid for at least 6 months beyond arrival
  • A digital passport photo and a scanned passport bio-data page for upload
  • Email address to receive the e-visa approval letter
  • Confirmed accommodation details and travel dates
  • Debit or credit card for the online fee payment
  • No in-person biometrics required, though fingerprints may be scanned on arrival at some airports as a routine border measure

Visa types

  • Single-entry e-visa: valid up to 90 days, allowing one entry and exit
  • Multiple-entry e-visa: valid up to 90 days, allowing unlimited entries and exits within that validity
  • Both cover tourism and standard business activity; longer work or investment stays require a separate visa sponsored by an employer or Vietnamese entity.

How to apply online

  • Apply through the official portal at evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn, Vietnam's Immigration Department e-visa system
  • Upload your passport photo page and a personal photo, enter travel details, and select single or multiple entry
  • Pay the e-visa fee online by card
  • Standard processing is 3 working days; print the approved e-visa to present at the border alongside your passport

Fees & processing time

  • The e-visa fee is USD 25 for single entry and USD 50 for multiple entry, paid online during the application. Standard processing takes about 3 working days; an expedited service through some authorized agents can shorten this to 1-2 days for an additional service fee.

Tips for Hong Kong travelers

  • Apply only through the official government portal to avoid overpaying third-party agent fees for a basic single-entry e-visa
  • Double-check entry and exit port names on your e-visa match your actual flight itinerary
  • Print a physical copy of the approved e-visa, as some border posts still expect a paper printout
  • The Consulate General of Vietnam in Hong Kong can assist with questions on longer-stay or business visa categories
