Hong Kong SAR passport holders can enter Ukraine visa-free for short stays of up to 14 days, intended mainly for brief visits.

What you need

  • HKSAR passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure date
  • Confirmed return or onward ticket
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Travel health insurance covering the stay (commonly requested at the border)
  • Evidence of sufficient funds
  • No visa or biometrics required for the visa-free allowance

Visa types

  • No advance visa applies for the 14-day visa-free allowance, which covers short tourism and business trips. Longer stays, work or study require applying for an appropriate Ukrainian visa (D-type long-stay or work visa) through a Ukrainian consulate before travel.

Entry conditions

  • Maximum 14 days per visit under the visa-free arrangement
  • No employment permitted during the visa-free stay
  • Due to ongoing security conditions, travellers should check current Ukrainian government and Hong Kong Immigration Department travel advisories before planning any trip
  • Overstaying, even briefly, can result in fines or entry bans on future visits

Fees & processing time

  • No visa fee applies for the 14-day visa-free entry; border processing is quick where land or air crossings remain open. If a longer-stay D-visa is needed instead, consulate fees and processing (commonly 5-15 working days) apply and vary by visa category.

  • Keep travel insurance documents accessible, as they may be requested at the border
  • Plan for very limited consular support inside Ukraine and register your trip with the nearest diplomatic mission if travelling despite advisories
  • Since Ukraine has no consulate in Hong Kong, visa and consular matters are generally handled through regional missions
