Tuvalu Visa for Hong Kong Citizens 2026

Visa on Arrival

Hong Kong SAR passport holders can obtain a visa on arrival in Tuvalu, generally granted free of charge for stays of up to 30 days.

Guide last updated October 25, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • HKSAR passport valid for at least 6 months
  • Confirmed return or onward ticket (flights to Tuvalu are infrequent, so this is checked closely)
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Sufficient funds for the stay
  • Completed arrival/immigration card provided on the flight
  • No biometrics or photos required for the on-arrival permit

Visa types

  • Tuvalu issues a single visitor permit on arrival covering tourism and short business visits; there is no separate tourist/business visa category to choose from in advance. Longer stays for work or residence require a permit arranged beforehand with the Tuvalu Immigration Department.

Visa on arrival

  • Available only at Funafuti International Airport, the country's sole international entry point
  • Immigration officers review your return ticket, accommodation details and funds, then stamp a visitor permit, usually valid for 30 days
  • No separate counter fee form is needed beyond the standard immigration card
  • Keep in mind flights to Tuvalu are limited (mainly via Fiji), so plan onward connections carefully

Fees & processing time

  • The visa-on-arrival permit is typically issued free of charge for standard 30-day tourist stays; processing at the airport counter takes only a few minutes per passenger given the small volume of arrivals. Extensions beyond 30 days can be requested at the Immigration Department in Funafuti for a modest administrative fee.

Tips for Hong Kong travelers

  • Book onward flights (usually via Fiji Airways through Suva) well in advance, as seats to Funafuti are limited
  • Bring cash (Australian dollars, which Tuvalu uses) since card payment infrastructure is minimal
  • Confirm accommodation before arrival as lodging options on Funafuti are limited
  • There is no Tuvaluan consulate in Hong Kong, so questions are best directed to the Tuvalu Immigration Department directly
