Thailand Visa for Hong Kong Citizens 2026

Visa Free

Hong Kong SAR passport holders can enter Thailand visa-free for up to 60 days for tourism under Thailand's visa exemption scheme, needing only a valid passport and proof of onward travel.

Guide last updated October 25, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid at least 6 months beyond stay
  • Return or onward flight ticket
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Proof of sufficient funds (THB 20,000 per person is the commonly cited guideline, though rarely checked)
  • Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) completed online before arrival
  • Travel health insurance recommended

Visa types

  • Not applicable for short tourist visits under the visa exemption scheme. Travelers wishing to work, study, or stay longer than 60 days should apply for the relevant Thai visa (such as a Non-Immigrant B work visa or Non-Immigrant ED student visa) through the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Hong Kong before departure.

Entry conditions

  • Hong Kong SAR passport holders may enter Thailand visa-free for up to 60 days for tourism purposes, following Thailand's 2024 extension of the exemption period from 30 to 60 days for eligible nationalities — paid work is not permitted. Travelers must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card online within 72 hours before arrival. A one-time extension of up to 30 additional days can be requested at an Immigration office inside Thailand for a fee.

Fees & processing time

  • No visa fee applies since entry is visa-free
  • TDAC registration is free and processed instantly online
  • In-country extension fee: THB 1,900, processed same-day at an Immigration office

Tips for Hong Kong travelers

  • Complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card before departure to avoid delays at immigration
  • Carry proof of onward travel, as airlines and immigration occasionally request it
  • Common issues include forgetting the TDAC or lacking proof of accommodation
  • For longer stays, apply for a Non-Immigrant visa at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Hong Kong before traveling
  • Extensions and visa runs are handled at Thai Immigration Bureau offices nationwide
