Poland Visa for Hong Kong Citizens 2026

Visa Free

Hong Kong SAR passport holders can enter Poland visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period under the Schengen visa-waiver arrangement - no visa required for tourism or business visits.

Guide last updated October 25, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned departure from the Schengen area, issued within the last 10 years
  • No visa currently required, though HKSAR passport holders will need to register for the EU's ETIAS travel authorization once it becomes mandatory (repeatedly delayed, expected after 2026) - check status before booking
  • Proof of sufficient funds (approx EUR 75/day is a commonly cited guideline), a return or onward ticket, and accommodation booking should be ready to show if asked
  • Schengen-compliant travel medical insurance (minimum EUR 30,000 coverage) is recommended though not usually checked at the Polish border for visa-exempt nationals
  • No photo or biometrics submitted in advance

Visa types

  • No visa needed for stays up to 90 days in any 180-day period across the whole Schengen area
  • For stays longer than 90 days, work, or study, a national (type D) visa must be obtained in advance from the Polish Consulate General in Hong Kong, requiring an application form, photo, and purpose-specific supporting documents (work permit, university admission letter, etc.), fee from approx EUR 80, processing 15-30 days

Entry conditions

  • The border officer stamps the passport with the entry date on arrival; HKSAR travelers must track their cumulative 90/180-day Schengen allowance across all Schengen countries visited, not just Poland
  • Work is not permitted on the visa-exempt tourist entry
  • Carry evidence of the purpose of the trip and sufficient funds, as entry can be refused at any single external Schengen border point

Fees & processing time

  • No fee for visa-exempt entry
  • Once ETIAS becomes mandatory the fee is expected to be EUR 7 per authorization, valid 3 years, processed within minutes to a few days online - not yet required at this time
  • National (type D) visa fee for longer stays: approx EUR 80, processed in 15-30 calendar days at the consulate

Tips for Hong Kong travelers

  • Use the official Schengen short-stay calculator to track the 90/180-day rolling window if visiting multiple Schengen countries on the same trip or across the year
  • Keep boarding passes and hotel receipts as proof of dates in case of a border audit
  • Once ETIAS launches, apply online before booking flights since a rejection can be appealed but takes extra time
  • For anything beyond tourism (work assignments, long courses), start the national visa application at the Polish Consulate in Hong Kong at least 6-8 weeks ahead of travel
