Peru Visa for Hong Kong Citizens 2026

Visa Free

Hong Kong SAR passport holders can enter Peru visa-free for stays of up to 180 days as tourists - no visa or eTA required, only a valid passport and onward ticket.

Guide last updated October 25, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the arrival date
  • No visa, eTA, or online registration required before travel
  • Immigration may ask to see a return or onward flight ticket and proof of accommodation at the port of entry
  • Evidence of sufficient funds is occasionally requested but rarely enforced
  • No photo or biometric submission in advance; fingerprints and a photo are captured at the immigration checkpoint on arrival
  • Travel health insurance is not mandatory but recommended, particularly for travel to high-altitude destinations such as Cusco

Visa types

  • No visa category applies - entry is as a visa-exempt tourist under Peru's reciprocal arrangement, granted a Tourist Permit (Tarjeta Andina de Migración) stamped on arrival
  • Longer stays, work, or study require a separate visa application at a Peruvian consulate before travel; these are not available to tourists entering visa-free

Entry conditions

  • Present passport and, if requested, return ticket and accommodation details to immigration on arrival
  • The officer stamps the passport granting up to 180 days, though the exact number granted is at the officer's discretion - 90 days is commonly stamped with the possibility to request more
  • Working is not permitted on the tourist entry
  • Keep the entry record; losing it can complicate an extension or exit
  • Overstaying incurs a daily fine payable at departure

Fees & processing time

  • No visa fee since entry is visa-free
  • No processing time since entry is granted immediately on arrival
  • Extensions of stay (if less than 180 days was granted) can be requested at Peru's immigration office (Migraciones) in Lima or regional offices for approx USD 1-3 per day up to the 180-day maximum

Tips for Hong Kong travelers

  • Carry a printed or digital copy of the return or onward ticket, since some airlines verify onward travel for visa-exempt countries at check-in in Hong Kong
  • No consulate visit is needed for tourism, which simplifies the trip compared to neighboring countries that require visas
  • If staying near the maximum 180 days, start the extension process at Migraciones at least a week before the stamped date expires to avoid overstay fines
  • Travelers continuing to Bolivia or Brazil should check those countries' separate visa requirements for Hong Kong passport holders
