What you need

  • Passport valid at least 6 months beyond the intended stay, with 2 blank pages
  • Completed Paraguayan visa application form, available from the embassy
  • Two passport-size photos (white background, 4x4cm, taken within the last 6 months)
  • Proof of sufficient funds - bank statement covering the last 3 months, around USD 2,000 equivalent is a commonly used guideline
  • Confirmed round-trip flight itinerary
  • Hotel booking or letter of invitation from a Paraguayan host
  • Apostilled police clearance certificate, commonly requested for longer stays
  • Biometrics (fingerprints) taken in person at the consulate during application
  • Travel health insurance covering the full stay, required by most Paraguayan consulates

Visa types

  • Tourist visa - single or multiple entry, up to 90 days per visit within a 1-year validity, fee approx USD 160
  • Business visa - requires an invitation letter from a Paraguayan company, same fee, validity up to 1 year multiple entry
  • Paraguay does not issue e-visas or visa-on-arrival to Hong Kong SAR passport holders, so every application is made in person or by courier to a consulate

  • Extensions inside Paraguay are processed by the Dirección General de Migraciones in Asunción before the original visa expires
