Palau Visa for Hong Kong Citizens 2026

Visa on Arrival

Hong Kong SAR passport holders get a free visa on arrival (visitor entry permit) at Palau's Roman Tmetuchl International Airport, with a separate environmental Green Fee collected around departure.

Guide last updated October 24, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond entry
  • Confirmed return or onward flight ticket, often required within 30 days
  • Evidence of sufficient funds for the stay
  • Hotel booking or accommodation address in Palau
  • Pristine Paradise Environmental Fee (Green Fee) payment, currently around USD 100, collected around arrival/departure
  • Travel health insurance recommended given limited medical facilities on the islands
  • No biometrics required before arrival; a photo may be taken at the immigration counter

Visa types

  • Visitor Entry Permit (visa on arrival) - issued free for most nationalities including Hong Kong, valid 30 days, extendable
  • Extension permits - for stays beyond the initial 30 days, applied for at the Bureau of Immigration in Koror
  • Long-term resident/work permits require separate sponsorship and application, not available on arrival

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Roman Tmetuchl International Airport (Koror/Airai) immediately on arrival
  • Immigration officers review passport, return ticket and accommodation details, then stamp a 30-day entry permit
  • No visa fee is charged for the entry permit itself for most visitors
  • The Pristine Paradise Environmental Fee (Green Fee), covering departure tax and conservation contributions, is collected via the Palau Pledge system and must be paid to exit
  • Processing at the airport is typically quick, around 15-20 minutes outside peak arrival times

Fees & processing time

  • Visitor entry permit (visa on arrival): no fee for most nationalities
  • Pristine Paradise Environmental Fee / departure-linked fee: approximately USD 100, confirm current amount before travel
  • No VFS/BLS fee - handled entirely at the airport
  • Total cost estimate: around USD 100, mostly the environmental fee
  • Standard processing time: 15-20 minutes on arrival
  • No express option needed since there is no advance visa process for short stays

Tips for Hong Kong travelers

  • Confirm the current Green Fee/Pristine Paradise Environmental Fee amount and payment method before travel, as this has changed in recent years
  • Flights to Palau are limited and often routed via Guam, Taiwan or Manila - plan accommodation and permits with this in mind
  • All visitors must acknowledge the Palau Pledge environmental declaration stamped into the passport on arrival
  • Extensions beyond 30 days should be requested at the Bureau of Immigration in Koror before the initial permit expires
  • Carry proof of onward travel, as this is checked more strictly than in many other visa-on-arrival destinations
