Extensions beyond 90 days must be requested in person at the Direction Generale de la Police Nationale in Bamako before the initial period expires; approval is discretionary and typically requires justification plus a registration fee payable in CFA francs.

Fees & processing time

  • No visa fee applies for the visa-free 90-day entry. If a long-stay visa is later required, fees typically run from CFA 30,000 to 75,000 (roughly USD 50-125) depending on category, payable at the embassy that processes the application. Since there is no Malian mission in Hong Kong, applicants generally route through the Malian embassy in Beijing or another regional post, adding courier and administrative time. Processing for such visas is typically 5-10 working days once the application is lodged in person.
