Indonesia Visa for Hong Kong Citizens 2026

Visa Free

Hong Kong SAR passport holders can enter Indonesia visa-free for tourism or social visits for up to 30 days, non-extendable; a Visa on Arrival (IDR 500,000) is required if a longer stay or different purpose is needed.

Guide last updated October 24, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival
  • Confirmed return or onward flight ticket
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or address of host)
  • Sufficient funds for the stay (immigration officers may ask to see this, though rarely checked)
  • No specific form required for the visa-free entry; arrival/departure details are collected electronically on most routes
  • No biometrics required for the 30-day visa-free entry
  • Travel health insurance is recommended but not mandatory

Visa types

  • Visa-free entry (Bebas Visa Kunjungan) - tourism/social visits only, single entry, 30 days, not extendable, free of charge
  • Visa on Arrival (VOA) - tourism, business meetings, or transit, single entry, 30 days, extendable once for a further 30 days, fee IDR 500,000 (about USD 32)
  • Visitor Visa (single or multiple entry) - for longer stays, family visits, or multiple purposes, apply via molina.imigrasi.go.id before travel

Entry conditions

  • Hong Kong SAR passport holders are on Indonesia's visa-exemption list and may stay up to 30 days per visit
  • The visa-free stamp cannot be extended or converted into another permit while in Indonesia - if you need more than 30 days, apply for a Visa on Arrival instead
  • No work or paid activity is permitted on the visa-free entry
  • On arrival, present your passport, return ticket, and accommodation details at the immigration counter; an entry stamp is issued free of charge
  • Overstay is fined IDR 1,000,000 per day

Fees & processing time

  • Visa-free entry: free, processed on the spot at the immigration counter
  • Visa on Arrival: IDR 500,000 (about USD 32), paid in cash or by card at the airport counter, processed in a few minutes
  • Visitor visa applications made online through molina.imigrasi.go.id typically take 3-5 working days
  • No express service is offered for the visa-free category since no application is needed

Tips for Hong Kong travelers

  • Keep your return/onward ticket and hotel confirmation ready to show at the counter - this is the most common reason for delay
  • If your trip may extend past 30 days, apply for a Visa on Arrival rather than the free entry stamp so you have the option to extend later
  • Double-check your passport has at least 6 months validity, as Indonesian immigration enforces this strictly
  • For business trips, bring an invitation letter from the Indonesian host company to avoid being asked about the purpose of visit
  • Overstays are common among short-term travellers who misjudge the 30-day limit - mark your exit date clearly
