Hong Kong SAR passport holders need a visa to enter the Gambia — apply via the nearest Gambian high commission or an authorised visa agency before travel; fee around USD 100-200, processing 5-10 working days.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Completed Gambia visa application form
  • Two passport-sized photos (35mm x 45mm, white background)
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter)
  • Return or onward flight ticket
  • Proof of sufficient funds (bank statement, last 3 months)
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate if arriving from or transiting a yellow-fever endemic country
  • Biometrics: fingerprints may be collected on arrival at Banjul International Airport
  • Travel health insurance: recommended, not mandatory

Visa types

  • Tourist visa: single entry, stay up to 30 days, fee approx USD 100
  • Business visa: single/multiple entry, up to 90 days, requires an invitation letter from a Gambian company, fee approx USD 150
  • Multiple-entry visa: valid up to 1 year for frequent travellers, fee approx USD 200

How to apply

  • The Gambia has no consulate in Hong Kong, so applicants submit through the nearest Gambian high commission (e.g. London) or an authorised visa agency
  • Submit the application form, photos, invitation/hotel booking, bank statement and return ticket
  • Fee paid by bank draft or via the agency's online payment system
  • No interview normally required for a tourist visa; business visas may need extra company documentation
