What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended stay
  • Scanned passport bio-data page and a recent digital passport photo
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter from a local host or company)
  • Return or onward flight ticket
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate (mandatory for entry)
  • Travel health insurance: recommended
  • Biometrics: fingerprints and photo captured on arrival at the port of entry

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa: single entry, valid 90 days from issue, max stay around 30 days, approximately USD 50-70
  • Business e-Visa: requires an invitation letter from an Equatoguinean company, approximately USD 80-100
  • Transit e-Visa: for short stopovers, lower fee and shorter validity

How to apply online

  • Apply through the official e-visa channel referenced via the Equatoguinean embassy covering the region
  • Submit personal details and upload the passport scan, photo, and supporting documents
  • Pay the fee online by card where available, or by bank transfer as instructed
  • Approval is emailed as a PDF; print it to present at the airport alongside your passport and yellow fever certificate
  • On arrival at Malabo or Bata airport, immigration verifies the e-Visa and stamps the passport

Fees & processing time

  • Tourist e-Visa fee: approximately USD 50-70
  • Business e-Visa fee: approximately USD 80-100
  • No separate VFS/BLS fee, since applications are processed directly
  • Standard processing time: 5-7 business days
  • Expedited processing is not consistently available; plan for the standard timeline

Tips for Hong Kong travelers

  • Apply 2-3 weeks before departure given variable processing times
  • Common rejection reasons: missing yellow fever certificate upload, or an invitation letter mismatched to the stated purpose of visit
  • There is no Equatoguinean embassy in Hong Kong; applications typically go through the embassy covering the region or an online channel
  • Keep multiple printed copies of your e-Visa approval and yellow fever certificate, as both are checked at entry
  • Confirm current requirements directly with the embassy before applying, since the process has changed in recent years
